First Time in a Long Time....

I use a 5 bulb COB light that's a lot smaller than yours in size but pulls 201W from the wall and really is only good for half of my 2x4' VivoSun tent. No dimmer on mine and easy to run out of head space even when I have it just inches from the top of the tent. I have a DIY LED that uses 11 9W LED bulbs with the globes popped off for more coverage if needed. Grow room in the basement for flowering with HIDs.

I wouldn't be so quick to up-pot yet but if you plan to switch to 12/12 soon then yeah. Are you sure those pots are 2gal? Look more like 1gal but hard to tell from here. Do they have the size printed on the bottom or just a #2? If just the number it doesn't mean 2gal. Some of mine just have dimensions so you have to calculate the actual size. Those pots in there are 2L or 1/2gal and don't look 4x smaller than yours to me.

They will stretch lots so don't let them get too much taller before flipping if you're going to flower in there too.

**Transplant Day**
So decided to go ahead and transplant and also was finally able to update the tent just a little bit more. So we transplanted up to 3 gallon pots (Side Note: Really need to just go find square pots….) and the roots look healthy and in need for some more room. Plan is to allow them to get use to there new home and then I’ll be setting the timer to 12:12 and letting the magic happen!

Grow tent update, was able to get my hands on another extension cord and move the 2nd fan to the opposite side so we have cross winds and also went ahead and removed the front guard on the fan. And it was a noticeable difference in amount of air being pushed.

And sorry @Kerowacked I understand your going off of pictures but I really don’t water often and I’m also picking them up each day to check weight….

So not sure what this window is really for but atleast now I can see the plants from it lol

Root bound and down. They should respond well to the new room in the pots. Hard to tell how wet they were until I saw the water dripping off the root ball

This is what I do at each transplant from even the tiny 9-hole starter pots all the way to the final pot.

I'll sprinkle some DynoMyco on top of the fresh soil in the new pot, spray that with water then drop the plant in and fill around the sides. Massive amounts of feeder roots branch out after the roots are pruned and the plants grow like they are in DWC. The DynoMyco is a fairly new addition and the roots grew fine without it.

That is not terribly root-bound. You want it like that or even more so the rootball holds together nicely when you move the plant. I wait until it's at the point where it needs watering as the drier it is the less chance of the rootball falling apart.

Look at the guys that grow in those red party cups right up to harvest as a challenge. Those plants end up with nothing but roots in the pots and they get nice harvests.

Yeah wasn’t concern that it was a harmful amount, just figure since I could see some roots on the bottom it was about time. But they came out super clean. I’ll have to try removing a layer, next grow. But I’m 100% gonna look at ordering some square pots to make that faster then try to deal with the circle.

Watch them take off now, they definitely needed more room/fresh food source, and hopefully the deficiencies sort themselves out.
I don't know about transplanting dry though, each to their own I guess. I always transplant after I water.

I'm not saying dry them right out but without a good root mass in there the ball tends to fall apart if it's just been watered before transplant. Once the plant is in its new pot I water the whole pot really well to bind everything together and get good contact between the roots and the new soil.

I'm sure you water yours well too so I'm not saying you don't. :)

Doesn't really matter if it's a circle or square pot when slicing a bit off the bottom. Square pots do fit in closer and I bought 25 - 10L ones for a project SoG grow one of these days. I have 25 round ones the same size but they won't fit in a 4x4' space where the square ones do with a few inches to spare. Plan is to make a square pool with 1x4 boards and line it with a plastic sheet so I can water all at once by just pouring it in the pool and letting them suck it out. I'll remove any excess with my shop vac.

I've since decided that 16 would be enough and the round pots will fit just fine for that many. Should sell the round ones and just keep the nice square ones. They were only $3 each.

Those fabric or smart pots prune the root tips by design as the roots branch out when the tips die or are cut off like your plant does when it's topped.
That creates lots of fine feeder roots that get into every little bit of the pot and deliver more nutes and water to the plants.

To be honest I wanna see how this grow tent finishes, I might look into a RDWC system for it…. Lol see how the hydro side lives….

I found DWC in single Rubbermaid tubs the easiest way to grow but then depending on how you do with temps you may need a nute chiller and with all the plumbing involved in an RDWC system there's lots of places for leaks to start, circulation pump that can fail and more hassle. No holes below the waterline in a tub means never a leak. Just one air pump to worry about and in a small system they're cheap so having a backup pump isn't expensive and there are rebuild kits for many aquarium pumps that take 15 min to install. Can do 4 or more plants in one tub so with a ScroG setup in a 4x4 easily crop a lb+ each harvest.
