Hey dude just looking through ur journel looks nice man u seem to no wat ur doing pretty well. Im growing with the same method as u and i just got a quick question for ya, once the cakes are set in there fruiting chamber how much lighting do they need and for how long?? can they just be left in a room with the sunlight shinning through lighting up the room, or do they need a fluro light set on a cycle light 18/6 or 12/12??

Obviously im just starting to get into this so any advice would help greatly, cheers man:)

I'm just getting into it myself but I only give them a few hours of light a day. I have a 2' 6500K T8 that I used for starting seedling that I turn on for a few hours in the morning before I go into work in the afternoon. No set schedule. They seems to light it thought and it is suppose to help to know which way is up.

Makes sense to me, I got an old spare 25w fluro tube laying around, could I use it for the shrooms do u think? Oh and how close do u have it??

I don't see why not. What's the color temp of the bulb? From what I've read, 6500K daylight bulbs work the best. Not sure if daylight is superior enough to go out and buy one if the bulb in your fixture is say 3200K.

The lid to my terrarium was opaque. so I cut a rectangle hole in the top and covered it with clear plastic and put the light on top.

Had some really nice growth in the last few days. Especially the loaf pans. The pans did take pretty long to reconsolidate and finally fruit, but I can already tell the flush from the one pan is already bigger than if I would have just fruited the 2 cakes I used in it normally. I'm fairly certain now that I'm going to use most or all of the 10 jars of Ecuador I have left in a coir/verm/casting monotub.

. Have you ever tried or had any success with LC as spawn?
I saw this and just had to pipe in.
YES!! Only ever use LC to noc my jars/trays. Because the spores already germinate in the LC it will colonize a substrate must faster than straight spore solution. However your idea about "drenching" it is off, this will swell your substrate and make it slimy due to too much water and mycellium wont grow right. Only use 3ml per quart mason jar, any more than 5ml and you will get slime. If your jars are taking too long its either: PH, too much or too little moisture, temps are off, or not enough air getting to the jar (likely its not air unless your totally airtight) One thing you can do if you must speed up colonization is to shake the jars daily.

When you get a new strain you can keep that syringe in your fridge for a long time, and you only need the smallest drop in the LC to make it a whole jar of inoculate, the LC will also stay for a very long time in the fridge or even on the shelf. I have a couple B+ that have been sitting in the back of a cabinet for over 2 years and they still look the same and work great. (The first time I did this I made way too much)
One thing is that LC will grow too thick to use syringes. I shake the hell outta the LC, also I brew it with a marble in it to aid in this stirring process. I use a glass medicine dropper, suck up about half a droppers worth and drop it in the sterilized substrate (jar). Easy.
Using this method is the best way to keep your strains around as long as possible. Stop buying syringes! If you used it all up already dont fret its easy to take a sporeprint and make LC from that.

sorry to hijack your thread... btw light only helps to show them what direction to grow in. I have always relied on good old ambient sunlight (its free and effortless). No type of light works better than another but I would say one that doesn't disturb your environment, like say one that tosses heat is bad cuz it might dry stuff out quicker. These things grow in caves so literally the smallest amount of light is fine.

I tried GT and it made it out of my rotation pretty quick. Its good for your less experienced friends who need a milder effect as even in quantities I found the effect very soft. Cambo is sweet right.. still knocks my socks off and it seems to grow the same in the hot summers as normal temps. A buddy does the cambodian dwarf and they are fun, so small but a bag will have dozens of little caps in it, instead of the normal honking stalks from regular strains.

Actually, its gravity that tells them the direction to grow, and they DO need bright light in the 6500K spectrum to grow large dense fruits. Thats just terrible advice there.
