First time Qwiso or BHO run, please help

So I did a little shopping in preparation

Only thing I'm missing is coffee filters and a heat source I think


@Thundercat there was only small bottles available, should I put them in the freezer as they are? Or should I fill a mason jar instead and freeze it?

Got myself a Rosin press last week....I like that I don't have any solvent residue in the wax. Produces a shatter like consistency of oil. And it is super easy. Happy with this but my next purchase might be an extractcraft source turbo.

Little bottles are fine, you can just freeze them like that.

If you are wanting to use heat some guys use a hot water bath. A Pyrex dish sitting in another pan with hot water in the outer pan. You can pour fresh hot water in one end and push the cool out the other end.

Or you can evap it without heat like I do to get the nicest dabs, and just heat the part you want to alter the texture of.
 
Looks like it turned out ok, maybe a little green, but you will get better once you work out a system to do things as quickly and coldly as possible :). Nice job.
 
Once it was done cooking it was golden

I was concerned about colour in the jars, looks nothing like the finished product

Phone went dead and didn't get pics. Will grab a few tomorrow
 
I did mess up at the end of the cook tho, should have removed it from the bigger bowl and placed it in a smaller dish and let it slowly finish up

Learn for next time


I got 5 grams from the 2 oz of weed washed 1 time

The second wash hasn't been cooked yet
 
Must have weighed it wrong last night

Cooked the second wash and weighed both, 10.4 grams total from the 62 grams of weed

got that nice texture i was going for, perfect for syringes or spreading on a paper.

Thanks for all the help guys, im hooked now lol, cant wait to make another batch

Nice dude! Glad it turned out the texture you wanted too. I figured the heat would do it based on some of my early attempts when I double boiled the evap.

Yep it was def the heat

I did everything else exactly as your tutorial described basically

Everything cooked off nice and clean, i even impressed myself with this one lol, it turned out exactly like i was hoping and from all the reading i have done, i dont think i should be expecting much better yields than i ended up with.
 
Thats seems about right on yields, like 20ish%. If you did the third wash you would likely get another decent% I bet but the quality goes down a good bit for the thrid wash. Still great for edibles though.

Yes the second wash was a little greener than the first, I assume it would continue to decrease with more washes?

I may do 3rd washes tho when I'm ready for edibles , trying to get this oil thing down first lol

Baby steps lol

Get a loop or microscope and ignore the stems and hairs, while looking for intact trichomes heads to tell when you are done.

Taking the oil and making edibles is SOOO easy! Just melt the oil in the butter you use for the food :).
 
Ive done qwiso, butane, and everclear extraction.

Unless you have a vac chamber dont do Q or B.

Everclear is all ill use now, perfect brittle transparent shatter every time. But its spendy, i need a alcohol still to reclaim it.

When I do make one I think I'll use a small 12v tire compresser and drill and tap the intake with some braided fuel line and do the same to a square of plexiglass but atm I've got no spare cash for etha so it can wait

That would def work. I’m about to make some and just heat purge really well today
