upon further observation i have determined my poor little sprouts were cooked in the sun. i have since moved them in the shade and cover all my seeded pots with saran wrap to create a little humidity dome.

i'm going to go ahead and put my sunflowers in the ground they have sprouted but i need to prepare holes. i will let them get a foot or so before transplanting, maybe.

awesome tulips Chiceh!

fdd - for poppies keep the soil MOIST for the first 2 weeks. i lost a few (hundred) myself when i got a little too busy to water them every evening. after the first couple weeks you can drop the watering down to every 3 days or so. once they start to get stalks they need very little water...a good soaking every two weeks until bloom.

so, do passion vines make fruits of some sort? maybe a different vine we have here.... with very similar flowers.

i put saran wrap over the pot and cooked them all crispy. i'm an idiot. i have maybe 20 left i will go plant them now and keep the soil wet. thank you. my sunflowers are popping up like gophers. they are pushing huge clumps of soil out above them. it looks like a gopher just starting to poke out of the soil surface. i am digging holes and putting them in the ground. i want 12 footers.

Tulips are beautiful.... so many varieties. Most of mine are dying back now, having lost their flowers. Short flashy lives.

Fdd....gophers hahaha...that is true... those babies want to grow...
when you transplant you can bury the stem up to cotyledons or even over them. This helps with big ass sunflowers because it makes the stem thicker overall...the flowers get gigantic....I bet your plants get to at least 12 feet....

I'm gonna go get my camera and fire up a bowl, and go wandering....

some kinda tree i'm growing. they are all around the neighbor hood. big, bushy, they get "beans" on them that are 18" long. somehow a seed fell in an old pot of soil and started growing. i've had it for about 5 years.

I have a tree question. I am looking to plant another tree in my yard and can't decide what to plant. When I bought this house 4 years ago it was brand new, in a brand new neighbourhood. No trees, grass nothing. I am on my last corner now and can't decide what to put there. I want a tree that will flower but not drop fruit or nuts. Something that won't get too big and tall but yet over 12 feet. I live on the border of zone 5a/b. I have a maple in the other corner, go figure I live in Canada eh.
Any suggestions?

Hey, I did something I find funny. I had this plant growing in my perrenial garden. It didn't look familiar so I let it grow. It grew about my waist height then bloomed. I then relized it was a weed. Duh. I see the same stuff in the ditches on the sides of the roads. I soon pulled it out.
I have another one that I don't remember either, It is pretty though and looks like a perennial so it stays. It has short dwarf Daisy like foiliage in a small bush and tall stalks with pink flowers. I have it beside some dianthus (how ever you spell it). I forget what it is called. I should have a pic later.
Have you ever planted something and forgot what it was?
