Flowering Help!

Hey guys so I never got an answer from anyone on this so here I am reaching out again. It sucks now cuz I forget what seed site this was and what the exact quote was but it was about a white widow strain... it was about this pack of seeds called "white" where it had white rhino as well etc etc.. (this pack is sold on multiple sites, i think it is made by greenhouse but it was not their personal site which I found this quote on) anyways.. it said specifically about the white widow in this pack that some growers are said to reduce their flowering cycle to 8/16 instead of 12/12 for the remaining 2 weeks of flower. It was said to bring out the trichomes more etc and give it that more "caked in white crystals" look. Does anyone practice this or heard of this? My girls are on their last 2 weeks of flower so I thought I would try it out and just decreased an extra 2 hours so it is set to 10h on and 14h off. I'm growing Kush and Cheese atm altho theoretically this shouldnt matter what strain it is.

I mean I have heard of people giving their girls 24-48 hours of straight darkness before chop on the last day or two for the same affect. This is just a slower method which if works, I think would be more beneficial? Reducing to 10/14 will give me a total of 28 hours extra darkness over the duration of 2 weeks. I have also herd of "power flowering" which I get the concept although Im not sure it should be practiced to that extent nor do I really know if it works, if it did everyone would do it. Same with this... however, I see different methods of this being used, so the idea is there and it clearly works, being the most efficient way I do not know. Power flowering is where instead of having a 24 hour cycle you work it out to an 18 hour cycle, 14h on 4h off for veg. and 6h on 12h off for flower. Another example is when people induce 24-48 of darkness BEFORE flower. All these methods are relating in the sense of trying to cause the plant to age faster. Anyone?

First I've heard of that one lol

A 10/14 will most likely get you some nice foxtails, 8/16 will kill your final yield

ya want frosty, do what is known for sure to work, lower temps, lower humidity (in the 20's), deep blue light, sulfur, insect frass, jasmonite. there are lots of things that work but experiments are good for learning new ways. So try it and see

Extra darkness = extra trichomes. The plant senses that warmth and summer is near its end and it's desperately trying to get pollinated -- it makes sense and it works. I run 10 hours of light, 14 hours of dark, and then 3-4 days at the very end in complete darkness. I have a white widow too that I'm about to run -- pretty excited about it. Here's some of what my buds look like. https://www.rollitup.org/t/grow-chop-dry-cure-repeat.852792/

And no, RM3, a 10 -14 light cycle doesn't give you foxtails and Gibbs, I would listen to the breeders instructions over some leprechaun. Heat, intense light, incorrect nutrient regimens, and genetics cause foxtails. I do agree with colder temperatures tho -- it doesn't give you more trichomes -- it gives you BIGGER trichomes -- very pretty. Like little diamonds.

I'm sure you are; anyone with a male and a female plant could call themselves a breeder and more importantly you didn't breed white widow or white shark or white rhino. With the advice you just gave this cat, you're no breeder that I'd want to do business with. Where can we purchase your seeds?

IM finding cooler temps and dry RH causes lots of trics and dense bud production;) My buds look like they have been rolled in powdered sugar;)Been running cooler temps on my last 2 runs of perpetual and its like night n day. 12/12, no higher then 74f, RH 15-20.

It doesn't matter what your bud looks like RM3 because your advice is not spot on -- I've been growing with a 10-14 light cycle for years and I've never had a foxtail since I quit flowering 12/12 -- with the same exact strains no less. Talk is cheap. You've obviously never grown in a 10/14 cycle so therefore, you probably shouldn't postulate as to what will "probably" happen. Again, Gibbs, trust greenhouse -- not some leprechaun. I'm done.

It is night and day isn't it? That's why I love winter indoor gardening more than anything. My flowering room drops into the low 50's every nite in the winter.

Yes, Leprechaun, I AM knocking your terrible advice. I don't know you personally, you're probably a terrific guy, but the trash you rattled off up there is worth knocking.

Its not personal, we dont want to know you on that level.
I dont understand the wonky light cycle.....
That tid bit of info throws us off on your dexterity when you use the 13 on 10 off (or whatevs)
That means you are taking what we know works for sure in flower to changing it up without reason

Now that I have been keeping it way cooler, my purpling plants are going crazy purple, never like before;)
That's awesome, I bet they do -- I have terrible luck finding purple strains. I buy seeds -- grow them, flower them -- STILL GREEN. I'm am fortunate though because I do have "regular" strains that turn slightly purple in the winter -- that's pretty cool.

My outdoors purple strains didnt even turn this year because, I think it wasnt perpetually chilly enough. Ive been crankin the heat for years keeping around 80 indoors. I was trying to mimick a tropical environment like everyone else and its not even nessessary;)
OK RM3...your shit is best hands down!!
