Flushing is for washing salts off the roots,...... nothing more. It can then make the plant use its stored NPK since the soil has been flushed.. BUT the NPK is simply NPK, its not Organic or Chem, its been convereted to PLANT.

That's about what I do,, I hit a point that I feel if I Fert it would not be of any use this late in the stage, about 7-10 days before harvest. So I just use water. Its more of a Don't waste ferts idea.

Again I know OP is talking about soil but what about hydro. Is there any reason to flush? I keep thinking about my flush versus non flushed plants that lost the after taste. I typically dont flush but must admit this had me wondering about the merits of flushing out undesirable taste from additives.

You need to water with distilled water twice at the end and once mid flower. Ammonium will make your smoke taste like fish if you do not flush. Smoke should ash white, if there are ions in it it will ash black and be the wrong kind of harsh

Update: I took some jarred buds to smoke with the inlaw an here were the "non flushed" results.

Chopped plant at each stem and hung dried completely without removing any fan leaves.

It dried sooner than I thought so the bud was real dry until I jarred it up. It had just enough moisture in them to proceed with a cure.

The buds did not smell like grass compared to other harvest (cut buds individually and hung on rack, trimmed fan leaf and hung to dry.) It just smelled like bud.

The smoke was real smooth going in, felt like I had no smoke. Exhaling was the total opposite. Felt the full effects and didn't taste like any nutes or salts. Burned clean.
