Ok so I read this thread for last few days, I got my Persei Wednsday. I've seen the GPen but never tried. Heard good things about the Omicron so decided to get the step up.. a friend of mine also said he got a better toke off the GPen than the Omicron.
Bottom line the Persei/Omicron is more complicated to fill but not even complicated, but with a GPen.. more people are going to do it right easier so more people are going to have a better experience probably. I kept seeing warning signs when I bought my Persei saying for experienced users only.
So anyways I had some iso oil that IDK if I didn't put enough in, or the residue but it totally didn't work in the persei. So I put some budder in which has been working fine every since. There is no plastic taste. I have been doing 7.4 volt 5ohm cart wit the budder an hitting it for 10 seconds hasnt been a problem, no clogging or nothing. Sometimes I almost caugh. I find for me, about 3-6 puffs off the Persei get me as good as a torch blade or dab toke.
So a GPen could very possibly be a better toke, it wouldn't suprise me. & it's cheap so it's a good bargain for sure. I highly doubt it would take the Persei with double carts tho, I assume 2 tokes off a double cart would be close to a blade/dab..
My bottom line with the Persei is, it doesn't conserve your smokeables. You need more than 1 puff to get the dab high, so the whole 1 gram equals 200 to 400 puffs might be true, but it's not dab quality puffs. It's cool for when your out and about an don't have access to a torch, it's good for trips, or walking in public..
I have a e-cig I was blown away with that helped me quit smoking. The persei didn't blow me away, but it has it's place for on-the-go. I don't think you can go wrong with a GPen by the sounds of it, but the Persei can be frustrating sure.. the key factor why I got my Persei over anything else is the double cart is a cool idea, and you can fill a gram instead of a dab at a time <-- altho that's still way more convenient than torches depending where you are.
