ive never used it in the drainage .. good idea.. i use it everywhere else though.. shit smell like shrimp ramen noodles

Does it say any where on the bag/container to rinse/sterilize the sand if used with plants/aquariums? I have read that some play sands can come with a Biocide, I guess to prevent any unwanted weed growth in sand-box...
To say them gnats come from MG is a stretch, they could come from the garden area from whatever store ya purchased said soil from. Them little air holes in most of the bags of soil are perfect for any bug to get into. These pesky bugs can even be in your lawn/garden... so we ourselves could be to blame also!!! If anyone ever doubts if their soil is safe, How To Sterilize Soil.

the sand is "play sand" but it says its sutable for landscape use, so they cant go selling sand that is gunna kill your cactii

play sand seems to be working, plants are healthy, gnats are dissipating..... IF ALL ELSE FAILS... TRY SAND

UPDATE: Sand sucks for watering your plants and it keeps the water from seeping in correctly... SO what i have done i taken a tek. from our mushroom growing amigos!! a 1" thick layer of vermiculite!! for my next set of babies im going to use a small layer of pearlite and a layer of vermiculite on top of that and all of these awesome natural ingredients will keep your moisture content perfect!!
