Goodwill, salvation army, Value Village, any second chance/thrift store....

I'm not out to "troll" you, I just want you to know that there's
"it works"
and
"it works safely"

If you want cheap; you can build a GREAT box at home depot for around $50.
2 cheap sheets of plywood (which they will cut for you how ever you like) $30
3-4 2'x4's (they will also cut for you) $6-$9
a couple hinges $2.50
a hasp $1.99
1lb box of screws $6.47

if you need plans I can help you out... Its quite easy to build even by yourself.

a little amazon searching will find you a 75 watt Apollo UFO LED for about $65 with free shipping (they work great)
fans, filters, and nutrients can be purchased on amazon as well....
I like your plastic bottle idea as well, you should go for 2 liter bottles because they have the most "uniform shape" and plastic crates that hold 8 are easy to find behind your local convenience store....
I would love the help and plans. I have just a ford fiesta so hauling the materials might be a pain but okay sence your talking about the ufo led how many plants would that grow?? And what would the outside dimensions be for the box to get best effect for the led ufo.. Cause if anything ill put the CFL set up I got away for another day or somethin..
@merlin ahh kk appreciate the info cheers

I'm trying to imagine the blue print of the box with the materials ur talking about but I can't picture it unless u could get 4 walls out of two pieces of plywood and WB the door.. Idk I haven't done a grow box before due to I over think it and don't wanna fuck something up and it be ruined then the whole project was a waste of money not an investment

cuts.jpg

cut 2 4 foot by 8 foot sheets like this, have 2 8 foot 2x4's cut into sixteen 12" pieces... Use the 2x4 pieces to square the edges (or use a "T" square) before screwing each piece together.... make sure that one of the 4'x4' pieces doesn't get screwed down (it gets hinges).... boom bam bing! One afternoon with a friend and a dewalt drill and you got a 4 foot wide by 2 foot deep by 4 foot high grow box that is almost perfectly suited for an LED of that size and 1-2 well trained ladies....

Im going to home depot this weekend to collect the wood then i will put it together. Do the 2x4s go on the inside to square corners or outside? Im going to paint the outside of the box aswell do certain colors effect climates inside the box?

2x4's on the inside, as that's how the edges of the sheet measure.... you could probably use 1x1 if you're not going for "weight bearing".... make sure that your corner is square so no light escapes... if it does, pick up a roll of FOIL tape and get to crackin'! Also at some point you'll have to look into venting said cabinet (for fresh air not heat) or running supplemental budget co2 jugs (yeast and sugar and warm water in a milk jug)
And yes, certain colors will "eat" photons from reflecting, stick to a FLAT WHITE, not glossy or shimmer, flat white... if that's not gonna work, stretch mylar emergency blankets ($1.99 @ wal-mart) over the sheets of wood before you screw it together. Flat white is best though

ly be though the box to get fresh air on bottom and top push out heat like I said I get nervous cause I don't want to ruin my investment before its started

I'm trying to picture it all in my head I don't see it :( soo ima go with ima start with this weekend get wood and put it together besides the front 4x4 which will be the door with hinges correct?? Okay now that's said should I think of vents before I paint the outside and inside then do mylar? So fans would be directly thro the box and mylar so it can bring in fresh air on bottom and push hot on top

The outside doesn't need to be painted. Venting may not be needed either, recommended but not needed if you plan on running that LED panel, CFL's are different though they get hot as fuck. The venting would allow fresh air in, there is minimal heat so evacuation may not be needed. I was saying wait until the end to attach your door, just in case things didn't square up right. If you do plan on venting, go in through the bottom and out the top (heat rises).... And Yes, flat white is better than mylar, may seem backwards, but its not. Make sure as well that you either have a 6 way outlet inside or that you can run cords out of the box

Okay cool so I got the 6 outlet already from the cfls I had from the beginning so ill just put that somewhere up top or up top on the side.. Or do u think might be better to have it on the bottom?? I'm starting to lean to led due to might be less work on heat/venting.. Also do you think that ufo is enough for that exact plan u gave me.. Because that's what ima do get 2 pieces of plywood 2 2x4s and the accessories u said above as well to make that box.

before you dive in head first, spending another 40-50 on the cabinet and you could get a tent ($80-$100) that may meet nearly exactly what you need/want... Also, the UFO that I linked to is smallest one that Apollo makes; there are other larger models right around the $80-$100 range (that's about how much most cfl growers sink to start anyway).... that will only bring you up to $200, which though is half-2/3 of your target range, would more than make up for their selves... I build smaller cabinets for some of my clients, and their number one complaint is, that its great to start but they wish they would have gone bigger to start. I tell every one of my clients that they should consider 3 things before "starting up"
1. How much space do you have to DEDICATE to your garden
2. How much time do you have to dedicate to garden each day and each week collectively for general upkeep and the "unexpected"?
3. How much money do you have available RIGHT NOW? Not tomorrow, or in a week, or when your room mate pays you back for the cable bill, but NOW!

figure those 3 things out with solid answers before you jump in to this project.... It can be consuming to say the least. You'll want to be ready for anything, read up as much as you can! Knowledge is power!

electricity outlet should go as high as you can get it! keep it away from possible water spills! and in case I wasn't clear, the led I linked to is enough for 2x4x4, but
A. you could do better in that cabinet with a slightly larger output panel for slightly more $
B. Two of those models (one on each side of the top) would be great for that space during flowering...
C. These are not A+ grade panels... From experience I would say that they're more of a B to B- graded panel, but they do use 3 watt Epistar chips if that means anything to you. Also they offer a 2 year warranty, I sent one back after almost a year and a half because of a single dead diode; I had a replacement a week later.
