That's a Pennywise in a 100 gallon smart pot.... and you lift it while dry w/ 3 or 4 big guys, cut the pot away.

Smart pot guys say u can just leave it and transplant into a larger one without removing. I don't buy it.

Those giant smart pots have to be expensive aren't they ? if so I couldn't imagine cutting them up and replacing them every year or maybe with the amount of weed you get replacing the pot would be peanuts I guess

The roots do grow right through the smart pots so that makes sense.

When you say cut away do you mean cut the fabric or cut the roots?

I'll cut the pot, it's only $30.00

and yes, I have seen people put a SP in a SP, but not the best bet. Just cut them & slip it out of the way.

+1 on cutting it away the cost of the pot is insignificant. lol ya 100 gallons aint much soil outdoors.

Up here 100's are usually good, i just got these out a bit too big and a few weeks early. I'm not usually a lb on lb kind of guy, lol.

if my goal was to grow 100 gallon plant i would use a 3 gallon start and transplant around 6/15

that pennywise sure is a happy camper. keeping your thumb dark green as aways!

Hear, hear! You are growing an impressive tree of dankness!

I used a 5 gallon bucket turned upside down to get my tomato out of a 7 gallon smartie (Nugs' tip). I wonder whether you could use a small outdoor table or half barrel to do the same thing with the 100 gallon? Why waste a perfectly good smart pot if you don't need to?
