General Room Setup question

1.) Has anyone used the Grow Co 1000 de? Any idea how they compare to gavita de in terms of light quality and yield?

2.) My room is 25x25x10. I plan on using at least 6 double ended 1000w lights. Would a 24,000 BTU AC suffice for cooling?

Never heard of it. Probably cheap chinese stuff.

I highly doubt it. I think it could handle 4 without a problem. 5 maybe if you run in a basement at nights and it's not hot outside. 6 never in your wildest dreams.

Right on. I pretty much confirmed after I posted that a general rule of thumb for the double ended is 6,000 BTU per 1000 watts. So that aligns with what you’re saying.

Yeah they call it the california rule. I think that infrared accounts for the added heat. Not sure why but they do put out more than 3.41 btu/hr per watt but they definitely do. I personally value them at 5500 but 6000 is a safe number. You also need to account for other heat loads in the room like a dehumidifier and such.

So I’m thinking of a multi split system for cooling. Do you know if the dehumidifier that comes with the unit is efficient enough? Know of any cheaper ways to cool a room?

Running the AC unit in dehumidification mode when the lights are off works for some, depends on the AC unit. I know the portables suck at dehu mode. My 4 ton units will pull a lot of water in dehu mode. One could use a wifi controller to schedule the AC unit to switch from cooling to dehu mode and back as the lights go off and on. Thing about using a mini as a dehu is they will cool the room a bit where a normal dehu will add heat because the condenser coil is indoors. So when the lights are off the room could get too cool with the mini running in dehu.

Know of any cheaper ways to cool a room?
Run at night or only in the winters and vent with enough CFM. Some even setup ventilation in stages, say one 12 inch blower set to kick on at 78 and another one set to kick on to help if it hits 80. I ran a 8kW room with ventilation, I am in a basement, I ran at night not in the summer. I had the 8kW of HPS lights hooked to a 12 inch blower through an ozone genarator and outside. I had a 12 inch and a 10 inch blower with filtered intakes from a basement window well, setup in stages with the 10 inch followed by the 12 inch. I had some of the lighting on a high temp shutoff so if it got too hot some of the lights would shut down for a while. I was so happy when I got my minisplit.

Okay so don't buy cheap knock off lights, as with some shopping around you can get the gavitas for cheap. If you are anywhere near Michigan rootstosuccess is there name on ig has a hydro store and they got the gavitas for 239. I talked my local shop down to 320 after showing them that other place had them listed at 250 back then. It was way closer for me and I like my shop so paid the bit extra. That same store sometime has deals on like 6 gavitas and the controller for even better deal. They also have really cheap prices on mini split.
Anyways with gavitas being that cheap I wouldn't go with the knock off. If say if you went there for lights and mini split you would save a ton of money. If your not close maybe use their prices to get better deal locally. Hell they got phantoms even cheaper than the gavitas.
