Howdy Folks. So long story short. I like to do a 24hr cup soak to get them to crack. then straight into the paper towl for another 24-36hrs Then streight into my preferred medium.

The problem today is that when I did the towl method I ran into some time issue where i HAD to leave the house and had nobody to attend to my plants. To shorten this up and get to my questions.

When I got everything ready this morning to transplant all the seeds were fully sprouted...I mean all but maybe 2 had there shells shedded and there rounded leafs out. They looked healthy. I worked fast but cautiously and some of they small hairs that came off the tap root stook to the paper towel.

I took my time but was wondering if anyone else had this issue ever and what was the outcome?

Thanks

I no longer use paper for that ery reason. Just soak in water until the tap is ~ 3/8" then right into a starter cube. Do not attempt to separate the root hairs from the paper, just cut the paper and plant the seed, paper and all.

Paper towel method no good. Like pet said. Soaknin a cup of water for a day or 2 or sometimes 3. After a day swirl the water. Whatever seeds sink to the bottom. That means those seeds are healthy. That's the soma method.

If the paper towel method works for you, continue to use it...If you get in the situation again, like the other poster said, simply cut the paper towel and plant the entire thing...sounds like a one time occurrence due to an unfortunate circumstance g/l

All but one germinated fine. pulled them right off the towl (did this before reading the replys) The one I accidently snapped the tap root. however it this morning see some pointed leafs developing so I think It will be 10/10 with one lagging behind..

Hmmm, maybe my seeds are more viable, but all I ever do anymore is soak in water for 8-24 hours (looking for taproot), then straight into soil. Close to 100% germ rate, and most seedling pop up within 3-4 days.

I just had the exact same thing happen to me. I just planted them in straight COCO. Hoping for the best.
