Germination Questions.

So I have two bagseeds that I wanted to get started. I have never had a seed successfully sprout for me. I've had many germinate, but none have ever turned into seedlings. I have a germination station, which I was wondering if I should use to germinate them, until they have grown enough to transplant. I think watering has been my issue, and I'm not quite sure. This is the germination station. It has a heating pad that I can use. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Keep smokin' guys. :bigjoint:

Man just put your seeds in your soil water good once and chill. People tend to put to much into their grows. Especially newbs during the germination process. Keep it simple and natural. Nature doesn't have germination stations. No offence. Good luck bro.

You don't need that. All I do is pre soak the soil and stick the seed in, but make sure the rounded side is up and the pointed end down. The seed cracks open and sends a nice taproot down the soil and then comes up nice and solid. People love doing the papertowel method, but whatever, you're going to stick it in the soil anyway, might was well do it from the jump.

Well, when I go to water it, do i soak the soil before hand, and then plant the seed, or does the soil only need to be somewhat wet? And then from there, should I just wait 3-4 days to water it again, or what is recommended? Thanks for the advice guys.

Yep, I'd have to agree with both posts above me. The best way to germinate seeds, is to place the seed directly in the substrate. Seed company's will often suggest that you do not use a pre-germination method. good luck :leaf:

as for me, i use the paper towel method but i don't let the taproot grow out.
i just make sure the seed cracks open to know its alive and then put it in soil.
basically just wrap the seed in a damp paper towel and use 2 plates to enclose it,
then just leave it on a warm surface. i find the cable box to be ideal.

spida, you're over complicating growing a plant. I realize you're new at this and need some guidance but what makes any difference if the soil is already wet or not? I personally would rather plant the seed in dry soil then water but that's just me. There's no specific schedule for watering, aside from when the soil is dry and looks like it could use some water, water lightly till the soil IS or ALMOST all saturated. Don't make the mistake of over-watering, start small and add if needed. :leaf:

I agree totally. I don't grow much in soil anymore (DWC) But when I did I always started seeds in a cup of soil with an eyedropper of water. Worked fine for me.

Dude, wet the soil, plant the seed, and place in a nice warm place. I noticed that my sativa seeds need more heat than indica seeds to grow. If you can use a flood lamp or somewhere warm, it would help a bit.
