Okay heres my idea ive got a Quail and a medium sized cage im thinking if i feed it a dope seed and layer the bottom of the tray with seedling mix could this work?
+repbecause doing it through a bird would bo awesome and i dnt wna put my hand in shit
if thats the case, i wouldnt do it. find a good way to germinate that increases the chance of survival. i usually wrap them up in a paper towel, soak the towel with plain water, and let it sit in a drawer(inside of a baggie) for 3-4 days before i check on them. check the indoor sectionThanx John. the worse part i only have one seed
best way to do that is by placing them right into the soil lol. i just place them in between soaked paper towels or napkins so they're fully submerged in water, then i just leave them for an hour or two so i can get everything set up to plant them.if thats the case, i wouldnt do it. find a good way to germinate that increases the chance of survival. i usually wrap them up in a paper towel, soak the towel with plain water, and let it sit in a drawer(inside of a baggie) for 3-4 days before i check on them. check the indoor section
My go-to method is to scarify the seeds slightly, soak in water for 12 hrs & plant in seedling soil using a heat mat & CFL's.best way to do that is by placing them right into the soil lol. i just place them in between soaked paper towels or napkins so they're fully submerged in water, then i just leave them for an hour or two so i can get everything set up to plant them.
waiting until you see a taproot to plant just doesn't sound right..
I do the same except I use rock wool. And yeah, bird shit would burn the tap root so fast I doubt it would recover. My go-to method is to scarify the seeds slightly, soak in water for 12 hrs & plant in seedling soil using a heat mat & CFL's.
The best thing about waiting on a taproot is A. You make sure the seed doesn't spin in the ground after it's planted, which would add days til it popped, and B. make sure the seed is viable.best way to do that is by placing them right into the soil lol. i just place them in between soaked paper towels or napkins so they're fully submerged in water, then i just leave them for an hour or two so i can get everything set up to plant them.

the funny thing is though, i've done the paper towel til' taproot method and they always seem to take 3-4 days after planting to sprout. but when i submerge them in water for a couple hours and then just throw the seeds in soil, i usually get sprouts 2-3 days later. i don't like the idea of handling taproots either, i feel better when i never have to see them. The best thing about waiting on a taproot is A.
