Lol out of curiosity I assume! In theory it would work. I have a slough near where I live that I go canoeing in. There's an old wooden post sticking like 5 feet out of the water and has a large blueberry bush growing atop it. I assume from a bird who ate a berry and rested on the post and took a crap. The bush even fruits! Its crazy to see!

I wore a mask when I cleaned the bird shit off my front porch that shit will make you very sick if you breathe it in. Poured a ton of bleach all over it.

Don't waste a good seed on your bird's dinner, but I dono, if you buy weed with seeds in it I guess you could try it...?

the birds digestion may affect the seed. it probably gets warm in there. why not just put the seed in the bird poop? =]

Thanx John. the worse part i only have one seed :(
if thats the case, i wouldnt do it. find a good way to germinate that increases the chance of survival. i usually wrap them up in a paper towel, soak the towel with plain water, and let it sit in a drawer(inside of a baggie) for 3-4 days before i check on them. check the indoor section

I don't know if it would germ - my guess is it has a fair chance, but after that I doubt survival would be in its future.
1. Quail eat seedlings.
2. Bird shit is too "hot" - it would be burned up within its first hours of peeking out.
3. Why do you want to do this to your "only" seed again?

best way to do that is by placing them right into the soil lol. i just place them in between soaked paper towels or napkins so they're fully submerged in water, then i just leave them for an hour or two so i can get everything set up to plant them.

waiting until you see a taproot to plant just doesn't sound right..

My go-to method is to scarify the seeds slightly, soak in water for 12 hrs & plant in seedling soil using a heat mat & CFL's.

I do the same except I use rock wool. And yeah, bird shit would burn the tap root so fast I doubt it would recover.

The best thing about waiting on a taproot is A. You make sure the seed doesn't spin in the ground after it's planted, which would add days til it popped, and B. make sure the seed is viable.

the funny thing is though, i've done the paper towel til' taproot method and they always seem to take 3-4 days after planting to sprout. but when i submerge them in water for a couple hours and then just throw the seeds in soil, i usually get sprouts 2-3 days later. i don't like the idea of handling taproots either, i feel better when i never have to see them.
