I have a very complicated method that requires quite a few steps.

  1. Take seed
  2. Insert into soil
  3. Add water
  4. Wait

How deep do you plant the seed? In my tent i can germ seeds like crazy outside of it still trying to get that down.

This is what I do. Works for me.
Never used paper towel, I just try to emulate the nature as it is. Using reliable seeds got 100% success.
It's an endless discussion, imo it's philosophical. Do the same with mint, strawberry, tomatoes... love the approach and ideas behind organic and it's just a choice.

Yeah, we're anxious when dealing with MJ... Yesterday I made a bad transplant, just because of my anxiety... It's a great idea watching a couple o tutorials before doing it!! And I never got to germinate peppers, which is easy for other people...

I think the trick to germination is a warm environment
I just plonk the seed in soil about a quarter of an inch down & water with a spray mist bottle
A small bag of seed raising mix goes a long way, & it is easier for the seed to germinate in pliable soil,, that what seed raising mix is made for

I got it too wet :D
Easy way with not over watering wgen placing seeds into medium. A spray bottle a few mist directly on seed and continue doing as you see it dries. I have never had a problem germinating seeds. Just need moist, not wet!

So yes. Skip the paper towel. This aint the 1970s.

Whether using soil or jiffys, anticipate sone stretch.
I soak overnight, then germinate 30-50 together in a half filled cup. They are up in 3-4 days. I then transplant to a 3 inch cup 3/4 full. I put the seedlings deep, covering the whole stem up to the cotyledons.
The extra room from not filling the cup, leaves room to add more soil when they get leggy and lean or fall over.
Using jiffys or compost plugs ill go with a 4 inch cup or 1 gallon pot. Same same leaving room to add soil for support.
