Get Vegucated

I haven't bothered to look it up, but I wonder how many of the folks that live to be really old eat meat.

Like all those people that live to see their 90's. Even the 100 year old folks. How many of them eat/ate meat.

And how many of them were vegetarians. I have no idea. But it would be interesting to see if there are any statistics showing length of life, and a correlation (preferably causation) with being a meat eater, vegetarian, vegan, etc.
People that are now 100 didn't live through meat being pumped full of hormones and antibiotics for most of their lives. I'm a vegetarian, and I don't really have an issue with eating meat per se, just make sure what you're eating was either raised properly, or something wild like deer or elk. Anything raised on a factory farm is likely full of garbage not meant for human consumption.

Profit comes before our health and well being in this country.

Without today's ability to transport food most people would starve to death in a week.

And the amount of area to grow vegetables is way more than that of pasture for animals.

If humans all decided to become vegans we'd have to kill all the animals just to plant our crops.
BS How much grain do we waste feeding animals?

I've seen estimates that said if we stopped feeding grain to animals we could easily support a population of 10 billion people on this planet at current production. Besides the food waste we create.

Feed cattle eat 10 pounds of grain for every pound they gain in mass. That is a huge waste of energy.

480 calories in one pound of corn. 4800 calories eaten by a cow to create 1 pound of meat that contains roughly 1500-2000 calories.

All of our cattle our grass fed. You section off and rotate the land so the grass grows back....many do this actually. You can find beef that just graze naturally at wall mart

Most beef isn't like this. Every farm around here feeds their cattle grain.

Well I don't know how natural it really is but that's what it says lol... really? That's crazy too me.(honestly I thought all beef was grown this way) I guess it makes sense though, depending on weather obviously, we have about 1 per 10 acres. I guess I could see how that would be a problem for smaller states

I really do think these are the kinds of conversations our country needs to have.

Bad diet kills far more Americans than guns ever have.

Dear rollers,

Cheers to all who expressed their views in this thread and those who are about to.

From what I have read, everyone talked what they follow and why they follow it. What you eat is your choice, not anybody else's. There is no point in making someone understand your logic. You know it, you follow it. Tell, never impose. The discussion turned emotional between threads. Natural it is, to turn up heat here and there.

So chill and enjoy your j mates :D if we lose our peace, it doesnt make us different from them. We control our mind, not any big names or people. Guess my sativa buzz is wearing down ;)

When human civilization began, we reared cattle and agriculture was our thing- humans have a set of teeth for tearing down meat (vestigial organ i think) that means we have the capability to eat it. We also have brain, we can think and choose our option too :) but i believe in the food chain. But now we are out of balance. Times change, so we eat meat with hormones and other drugs...so is it better to stop eating meat or eat good meat? Then, why can't you go organic? Everything goes the way the creator ran it before we interfered. It is us, consumers/producers decision whether to give ourselves and the future gen a more safer and healthier life and environment. It's our decision, grow/rear your own or buy organic certified products. There is always a way..hopefully..

Whatever I said was my thoughts and opinion. I never wish to hurt anybody's feelings. If i did, sorry for that; wasn't my intention.

Love and Peace,

Toker.

yeah stay here for about 6 months and see if you still hold those views on "not discussing, everyone should be happy", theres no point in playing the smoke a joint and chill out card, if you do stay out of tnt, politics and religion subforms LOL cause we bicker, thats the point to forums, you discuss things, things get heated in all controversial subjects thats just how it is, no one is going to say

well excuse me sire, but it hink your logic is wrong

thats not how it works ont he internet lol ,people who want no part in discussing controversial heated topics generally dont go into them

People need to be more flexible and willing to change.
I have always been open to new ideas.

If you can prove that there is a better way to do something why would I deny it?
Just because I have preconceived notions about things?

Stubborn people that have already made every decision in their life.

I'm totally new to this whole thing. I have never tried to not eat meat before and to tell you the truth never even thought about it

While I can't go fully vegan, I DO cook vegan meals regularly. Otherwise, I'm lucky enough to live in (basically) a farming community where I can get natural raised meat and egg (can't have dairy) products along with veggies grown naturally without pesticides and chemicals.

Even as a kid though, we used to have field trips every year to farms and places where they taught us how to churn butter and milk cows by hand and stuff like that. They were my favorite because we were all allowed to bring something home.

ANYWAY of course there will always be the argument of 'if we don't feed animals hormones and cram them into factories until theyre ready to be chopped there's no way we can feed the population' which may or may not be true, but it still don't change the fact that its not GOOD for you. (And it's not like the whole worlds population is getting fed anyway.) but, to each their own with their diets I say. If I can make a difference with myself and perhaps my future children, that's good enough for me.

i forgot where I was going with this, lol, but there's some of my opinion.

BS How much grain do we waste feeding animals?
There a lot of variables to take into account. Might want to think about this a bit before calling BS.
We can't live off renewable pasture grass like animals because we're not true herbivores and we have a much more diverse diet that can't all be grown where humans live.

Actually that's exactly what we are.
