Hey guys....my first grow ever, things are goin well and Im pretty sure it's getting close to the time to start choppin. These huge colas are from a Jamaican strain that is in DWC (5 Gallon bucket) The pics don't do it justice but let me know what you think. Under the jewelers loupe, the trichs are a high percentage of milky...maybe the first couple going amber. I want to make sure I've got lots of time to flush before I chop anything....so any feedback is appreciated. I'll get some pics of the other ladies soon!

three weeks.
Thanks for the feedback! That's a lil longer than I hoped, but some things can't be rushed! Been on 12/12 since May 19 under 1 600W HPS for most of flowering....2 600W HPS for the past 2 or 3 weeks...(already showed female hairs under 18/6 (600W MH)

i like to go longer than most. a plant that "can" come down at 8 weeks i let go to 10. better stone and yields that way.

Anywhere from 2-4 weeks really. It's your preference. Let em go longer if you want couch lock. Earlier if you want more of a stoney, uppity high.

Yea at least 3 weeks still. But you know me I always push 4 to get couch locked.
Lol...i don't blame ya! In your opinion, how long should you flush before harvest? I've got a special solution I want to give for 3-5 days before I flush so I dont' want to wait to long cuz I wanna be sure it's flushed properly...
cheers!

my thoughts on flushing.....

if you KNOW the plant gains the most weight in the final few weeks, why deprive the plant of food? if you're using nutrients formulated for cannabis, you should not have to worry about residual chems altering taste.

but, if you must, i would wait to flush until you see the "done" look. in other words, if it's ready to chop, flush. the extra 3-5 days are not going to hurt anything.

flush should begin now,.. and in about a week bump the lights up to 13 or 14 hours, it'll bulk up the buds,... and dont forget the molasses

Hmmm...first I've heard of bumping the lights up to 13 or 14....and I'm using a product called Sugar Daddy instead of molasses...(if I were to use molasses...how much do u recommend? and for how long?)

Is it safe to assume, that because it's just molasses, I can continue to use it while I flush for the final week? Or should I just go with RO water? And what about this idea of 13 or 14 hour light??

yea dude i used molasses during the whole flowering stage with nutes and PHed water. So in essence you can use molasses now with your nutes one day on one day off the on the third day just water. But in the last week strickly molasses and PHed water. Also you want blackstrapped molasses or if you cant find that they normally have unsulphered molasses either one will work. As for the 13 or 14 hour switch of lighting i wouldnt want to mess with it especially after this much time in 12/12 honestly nature doesnt flip a switch like that so i wouldnt neccessarily agree with this experimental process. I dont see how it increases resin or anything else. I would let them be in 24 hr darkness before harvest because i do know that light decreases the THC and the darkness period builds it back up. So some darkness right before harvest would not be a bad thing.

BTW those ladies are looking so so beautiful

did the nugs have a different taste from the molasses? There was an earlier thread saying molasses kind of masks the taste of the bud. :leaf:

Thanks Bro for the info...I think I will add some molasses for the last little while. Probly wont hurt the other ladies that aren't quite as far along as well.

Thanks for the compliments...the girls are makin me proud!

yea dude what the molasses does is to break down microb's in your soil. Personally i have noticed that when your buds are starting to form and you start using molasses the smell gets more potent. The strain i had last smelt like berries or grapes. I deff think the molasses brought the smell out more. And the taste is amazing, so sweet.

No problem brother. Yea i suggest using only molasses and water for the one thats more further along. But deff add molasses to the others with nutes if your still using them. How far along are the other ones?

I agree with most of what you said and I always use nutes in the last 2 weeks. Then give them a 3 day emergency flush and its ready for the drying racks.

I wouldnt bump up the lights, if anything I would lower them to 10 hours for the last week.

Well no my friend, seeing as tho the plant STORES nutrients and it takes around two weeks for the plant to use them up, thus the plant DOES have food whilst it is being flushed.

Imagine the plant when you feed it, the food goes in at the bottom, and slowly, i mean SLOWLY makes its way up the plant, nourishing it, right to the tips where it is expelled, the food doesnt shoot into the roots, up the plant and out in lightning speed.

An emergency flush wont make no difference, the plant can only take up, use, and expel its supply so fast.

Believe me it does make a difference. I was shown this method by someone I consider to be one of the most knowledgeable growers around and they grow some of the highest quality world class weed. I have used it many times now and I always end up with great tasting buds even without curing but obviously the curing continues to improve and strengthen the taste.

Plants do take up nutes rather quickly. Give a plant an extreemly high dose of nutes and watch how quickly it will start to show the signs of over feeding.
