How to eat a polar bear and live to tell about it

Polar bear meat is an excellent source of iron and protein. Polar bear fat is a great source of vitamin A and omega-3 fatty acids.

Recipe: Polar bear meat is usually baked or boiled in a soup or stew. And according to this Inuit website, please remember one very important thing. Do not to eat your polar bear raw.

They suggest cooking polar bear meat and adding potatoes and carrots for a healthy stew. Serve it with bannock and a glass of milk or unsweetened juice.

Again, to prevent trichinosis, make sure your polar bear is well cooked. Aging or freezing the big-lug will not destroy the worms found in his meat.

If you plan to eat a polar bear, as I do, also note that polar bear liver should never be tasted as it can be poisonous and fatal. The Eskimos even go on to say, "it is never to be fed to the dogs."

US proposal to ban polar bear trade voted down at UN wildlife meeting

The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species decided a ban would hurt indigenous economieshttp://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2010/mar/18/us-polar-bear-un#history-link-box

A US-backed proposal to ban the international trade of polar bear skins, teeth and claws was defeated today at a UN wildlife meeting over concerns it would hurt indigenous economies and arguments the practice didn't pose a significant threat to the animals.

The US argued at the 175-nation Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, or Cites, that the sale of polar bears skins was compounding the loss of the animals' sea ice habitat due to climate change. There are projections that the bear's numbers, which are estimated at 20,000 to 25,000, could decline by two-thirds by 2050 because of habitat loss in the Arctic.

"We're disappointed," said Jane Lyder, the Department of Interior's deputy assistant secretary for fish and wildlife and parks. "But we understand that Cites is still trying to understand how to incorporate climate change into its decision making."

Canada, along with Norway and Greenland, led the opposition to the US proposal. They said the threat from trade was minimal and the hunting done by Aboriginal communities was critical to their economies. Only 2% of Canadian polar bears are internationally traded and the country strictly manages the commerce, Canada said.

"There is no doubt that action must continue to ensure the conservation of polar bears. Canada's goal is long-term survival of polar bears," the Canadian representative Basile Van Havre said. "But Canada does not think the proposal is supported by facts."

Frank Pokiak, an indigenous leader from Canada, said communities in the Arctic have hunted bears for generations, mostly for meat and pelts for clothing and shelter. He said they hunt them in a sustainable way and would continue doing so with or without an international ban.
"We have always cared for land and the wildlife because we have a lot to lose," Pokiak told delegates. "If it wasn't for polar bears and other wildlife that we harvest, we wouldn't exist today."

The big white bear, the world's largest land meat-eater, nanuq to the Inuit, may be uniquely susceptible to climate change as rising temperatures fast shrink its habitat, the Arctic sea ice.
Many bears spend their whole lives on the ice, mating, giving birth and hunting for their main prey, the ringed seal. But Arctic summers may be almost free of sea ice within 30 years, the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicted last April.

Data available on polar bear trade shows that since the early 1990s the market for polar bear carcasses and parts has increased. From 1992 to 2006, approximately 31,294 live polar bears, carcasses or parts were exported to 73 different countries, according to data collected by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species.
Skins are the most popular export item, and Canada is the largest commercial exporter.

saying there is climate change is like saying every human is slightly different than the other

its like a big DUUUUUH moment

lol imagine if the climate was always exaclty the same, how redicules would that be lol so redicules you sound like a total baffon annoucing that it changes

how could you even say "yo dudes, the climate changes "when duuuh its a fuckin obvious fact , so obvious that simply stating such an obvious fact makes you a complete tard

just like aging

imagine if the climate was the same exact thing all the time lol

it would be 75 deg f straight raining for 4000 years straight lol

you guys must see how redicules you sound saying there is climate change,

its makes you look stupid stating th obvious as some sort of knowledge you have some how magicly obtained. the only reason you get any milage off it is because you have confused the people by first calling it global warming then doing a bait and switch and calling it climate change. the rest of the peeps are still thinkin your bitching about global warmer cuz you did the bait and switch remeber:eyesmoke:

guys I have a news flash for you

if you put an apple on the table it will change over time:shock:

be afraid!!!!!! be very very afraid!!!!!!

either that or eat your apple before it rots,;-):dunce:

and put a jacket on when it gets cold, DUMBASSES!!:blsmoke:bongsmilie

I submit to you that the only thing that doesnt change on earth or the universe, is change itself.

Really? The ice is back to normal? I think not...you should probably read the first few posts on that blog site of yours...

The ice has more than 1 dimension. You are only talking about what you can see but that is only half the story, the ice also has depth. The ice on the top can freeze easily but the real information comes in how thick that ice is. It has been getting thinner. This means that the total area of ice is still shrinking. If you need it simpler then let me know.

Ever half melted a block of ice, then refrozen it again? Some of the ice is lost as it becomes water and does not freeze, whilst some of it has partly melted and refrozen to the size. It takes up more area, but the Mass of the ice has been reduced.
Now look at the Arctic ice in more detail and you’ll realise this more recent area is very thin.
http://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/features/arctic_thinice.html
As soon the northern hemisphere exits their winter this thin ice will disappear very quickly.
Will you be back then to point this out to us?
And Greenland’s losing ice too ... http://www.terradaily.com/reports/Grace_Sees_Rapid_Spread_In_Greenland_Ice_Loss_999.html

http://www.nrdc.org/globalwarming/qthinice.asp

And no shit they did not ban polar bear trade, the native people in the area depend on hunting them and trading them. I agree with that decision.

And as far as your 'no shit, of course the climate is changing' attitude...it is a display of your simpleton nature and willful ignorance. No shit the climate is changing, the question is whether or not it is happening at an accelerated pace due to human activities and what effect it will have.

And by the way, getting back to a much older topic big P, my fiancee, a doctor in psychology, tells me no such thing as 'partial dyslexia' exists in the DSM-IV. Also, the fact that English is not your first language is no excuse. I speak several languages and my spelling and grammar suffers none. Care to have this debate in Spanish or French? Haha...partial dyslexia....WE ALL HAVE THAT!

93 pages of this crap?

Can humans control the weather? If so...do we have the capability of making it more cold or more hot? If we do not actually control the weather how are we to be successful in reversing global warming?

Furthermore...I'd like to point out that EVERY great period of life expansion has been during warming periods. For every one polar creature that dies...100 creatures that prefer warmth will take it's place. What do plants LOVE, LOVE, LOVE?
C'mon growers if you cannot answer this you should be friggin' shot. Fine...I'll answer for you: PLANTS LOVE, LOVE, LOVE C02. They eat that shiite up. What do they give us in return? Oxygen. Still waiting on the bad part here folks.

I have yet to come across a valid reason why Al Gore should be made richer than Gawd because of his carbon credit scheme. He makes a movie and you want to turn the economic RE-distrubution of wealth over to him and his croonies?

Dude, the only thing you're demonstrating with this kind of shit in your posts is your inability to remain civil when talking to people about things you disagree on. Could you imagine if everyone throughout history debated in this fashion? Nothing would have ever got done, no progress would have been made. So what does it accomplish?

The issue is not "duh, the climate changes!"... it's "what is the reason for the CURRENT CLIMATE CHANGE, the peak in CURRENT TEMPERATURES, the ANOMALY". To not understand the distinction illustrates your ignorance of the actual debate and what the other side is arguing. Just like duke and I have told you in this thread, you guys just don't understand the actual science
behind this extremely complex issue that is manipulated on both sides by political bias. You don't understand how the scientific method works or it's beneficial applications when studying the climate.

You get your information from media outlets, then grab more misinformation from other media outlets to counter it, disregarding all the clear scientific evidence to support ACC, which we've all said is not the only thing responsible for changing the climate, and which even if completely false would still warrant government regulation. Corporations who pollute should be held responsible for their pollution, business and profits be damned as far as I'm concerned.

You're so worried about your money somehow being stolen (which you've still yet to exactly explain..) while remaining completely ignorant to the idea of utilizing green technologies right now, while they're ripe for the picking, and investing in them to help clean up the previous generations abuse of the planet.

But hey, lets just worry about what the fuckin' polar bears are doing...

so what do you call it when gor says the science is settled and then the climate does the exact opposite of what the scientists tell us will happen?

you know pad, you arrogant aristacratic bluebloods have always tried to bully and mislead the masses. face it, your science isnt workin out for ya. all the sky is falling bullshit is just that, bullshit.

worst case scenario, the planet get a degree or two hotter....so fucking what. if the ocean rises, we build farther away. if its hotter, we invent better breathing clothing materials.

the only thing that is gaurenteed about the whole debate, weather and climate will change....and there aint a fucking thing you or anyone else can do about it.

i say partial dyslexia because i type words backwards occastionally

i never got a diagnosis

as far as climate change if its anything like hope and change i cant trust it

trust is somthing that is to be earned. i cant manufacure it

and anything else would be foolish

you guys are just more trusting i guess

others may have higher thresholds that must be met

they have not met it yet

they are as they say "puttin the cart before the horse"
