Going from HPS to LED. Worth it?

Speaking from experience, you guys need to skip LED panels and go straight to COBs. Those are the real HPS killers. I can see a huge, huge difference between two ViparSpectra V450s vs. One 89w Tasty T1 fixture with top bin Cree CXB 3590 emitter and 2150mA Meanwell driver. Just one COB blows both "450w" (206w) panels away.
DON'T TELL ME YOU THREW MONEY INTO THESE PANELS!

You used a 5000k CXA3590 and you ran it about 50w. I run mine about 78w, and the last one about 85w. Your kelvin and amperage were the biggest issue. Probably should have run it at 1-1.1 amps, at least.

Efficiency still means plenty. With 274w, I'm getting the PPFD of a 600w HPS.

i have the 3590cxb 3000k for flower.

All goes back to the law of inverse squares , cobs lack initial value so penetration is much less, a single point light source with a big initial value will be able to be placed higher than multiple sources with a lesser value, it's just physics :)
I made this point earlier about single point light sources vs multiple diode light sources.

I used panels prior to switching to COBs. And there is a HUGE difference. Panels cannot hang with COBs. Your boy, Yoda, uses panels.
I dont give a fk if my boy uses panels. im just happy i wasnt sucked into the led hype.

When did you buy your CXB chip, and how many plants were you growing? How high was it from the plant? Reflector or lens? What amperage? Because you should definitely increase your amperage. You still get efficiency.
about a year ago. already used it for 3 grows. all 3 had issues. so i can't be all 100% yet. not till this 4th one completed.

here's the first op. with the 400w cxb3590 3000k. quality is top A. density was good, but as you can see in the picture, i was looking for the buds to be more fatter.. still wasn't what i was looking for. i think i had 3 plants in here.

I just looked at your blog. You use fucking blurple lights. You don't even use COBs. And if you do, what specs? Because if you have never used COBs, you really do need to shut the fuck up, because COBs are WAY different than panel LEDs. And your stubbornness to understand is solely a result of bias.
That grow log is over 2 years old...

Increase your amperage. I'll bet that'll work fine. How long did you let it go for? Did you wait for the swell? If I can yield 3-4 ounces of fat, dense nugs with "450w" (206w) Chinese LED panels that had great penetration with only 3 weeks in veg from seed, I know I can do better with these COBs.

I seriously think it might be your color and amperage. Dude, I wouldn't be contesting you if I wasn't convinced. I think you need to run it at a higher amperage, and change the spectrum. Like, 70-80w per light, and in a white-er spectrum.

Reds don't penetrate. That's why we use red flashlights for checking maps during deployment.

This runs about 150 watts for 4 of them push them any harder and I will lose a lot of what makes them good.

I don't think you will. I think it will put your PPFD where it needs to be, give it more penetrating strength, and it'll still be below the power consumption of HID systems. I'll be running only 274w for 3 at full power.

My leds are older tech this is as hard as they should be pushed without a full upgrade, which means new heat sinks, new diodes , new driver , basically I need to make a new led when I feel this one is done.
