We've all been there man. Can't say I never did the same thing, not very long ago. now that I'm financially stable and in a much better place I look back at it and it still makes me feel like a bad person.. I just did what I had to to get by though, no different than you.
As long as you manage to become a better person from it you shouldn't worry about what anyone thinks of you. :)

Wow. So I just got off the phone with my lawyer.

I can't go to jail.

If I go to jail, I will be a convicted felon. If I take the probation, I will have adjudication withheld.

He was able to negotiate 9 months probation as long as I don't mess anything up.

Apparently if you go to jail where I am the law states that you must receive a conviction for the crime. Why? They want your money.

Probation is hard. Even worse with drug tests. Do whatever you have to so you're not charged with a felony. Worst case it's not the end of the world. I work at a fortune 100 with one.

Agreed. I wonder if they will have me go once a week or once a month.. My bet is on once a week.

That's awesome you overcame that, I'm sure it wasn't easy.

Bit of jail time might straighten you up because it seems you've been a bit of a dick.

Fuck Ramen! I had enough of that shit to last me 10 lifetimes.

Chop up your summer sausage, while you heat up beans in your hot-pot. After your Ramen's cooked, "saute" your sausage in the microwave (keep that shit clean, you know when you leave that nuke dirty it pisses the swampers off. And that's when cleaning supplies get left dripping in that bitch!)...

Dude, your lawyer blew smoke up your ass, even in your wonderful state. There are a few circumstances where you can't get a stay of adjudication, but first offense grand theft isn't one of them.

It could be your judge, I remember a hanging judge in Lake City, gave a friend of mine 20 with 10 minimum mandatory, and slapped on the bitch, just for good measure, for a technical possession of a firearm. (He was adjudicated -- and his judge accepted only 2 types of pleas: Guilty or Innocent. No Alfred plea or No Contest plea in his house!)

Depending on which county you're in, you might really not want to go to jail. Probation's easy, almost as easy as parole.

A withhold of adjudication is not a conviction. A withhold is a term used in sentencing in which the judge orders some sanctions, but does not formally convict the defendant of a criminal offense. Therefore, the defendant does not receive the consequences from a conviction in a criminal case. A withhold is usually granted when a defendant is facing a first misdemeanor or felony conviction. In some cases a judge may withhold adjudication even if the defendant has prior convictions or withholds. No, the charge is not dropped; only the State Attorney’s Office can drop the charge. This is not the same. Instead, adjudication of guilt is withheld and there is no conviction. Having a criminal charge withheld is a good alternative to a conviction. People who receive a withhold generally do not have to report the incident on employment applications if the question on the application is phrased, “Have you ever been convicted of a crime?” Ethically, the person can respond with a “no” answer. The ability to honestly such a question can make all the difference in the world in a search for your next job. A felony conviction can cause numerous problems for your future. One of these problems, may prevent a person from the right to own a firearm. But, if a felony conviction is withheld, you may still retain the right to possess a firearm. You also don’t lose your civil rights, such as the right to vote and the right to serve on a jury.
If a question on a job application asks if you have ever been arrested or charge as a defendant in a government proceeding then you would still have to answer “yes.”
Third degree felonies may be withheld. If the defendant has a prior withhold of adjudication for a felony, however, the court may not withhold adjudication unless one of the two same conditions are met. A defendant with two or more prior withholds may not obtain a withhold of adjudication of any felony."

I'm not going to jail. My lawyer got it down to 9 months probate, then I can get a withhold once complete.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm doing well and keeping my head up.
