The Calyx are only 1/2 the size they will be when fully swollen + if you have 50% amber on the calyx of that plant>

Something went very wrong...

Was about to say the same thing. No way that girl is done yet. She looks good and healthy, but as said above she will easily double in size with regards to the buds. While different, my WOS Afghan Kush Special went 9 weeks and had very little amber. Damn do I regret not cloning her.

ETA are you using a jewelers loupe? 30 x seems to be a good tool to have, just by the White pistils, and lack of swelling, she looks like 3 weeks away. Nothing in those photos indicate she is ready or done.

Looks to me about 50% amber...this is a 6-8 week strain according to LEafly...7-8 according to WOS...i would think just at week 6 would be ideal for 50% status...i'm no expert in this by any means...and nothing went wrong...plants were completely healthy and both seem to be producing the same size buds...

Never said they were ready or done...just said they had 50% amber and looked almost done...I got a bigger 30x loupe from ebay...have a couple jewelers loupes and i don't like how small they are...

there is a link to the loupe i have...can't find the seller who i got it from...but it is the same loupe but mine is 30x...it has a wide lens and its very efficient...And I cloned the hell out of both...took 5 from each plant...gave 2 away already...love this strain!

i would say a 8-9 wk strain man but if you stagger the harvest by plants or branches you will get it correct. longer is better with most kush stuff. gd luck

i've never staggered before...always thought about it but always came to the conclusion that it would shock the plant and would affect the rest of the harvest...If I staggered the top colas, at about when should I do it?

i go around the plant and watch for branches that are done and remove as needed. every branch finishes differently if you look very closely at the end. try it on one plant at least.

I have been considering doing this for some time now.
I always take three samples from different areas of the plant when inspecting trichomes.
The samples are always different.
I may try this on the next one.

Please keep this updated man, I'm interested. I have a theory that the runts out of the twins are the powerhouses when it comes to the potency, flavor, and bouquet.
I had a Dark Star twin from one ceed, I didn't separate them & just let them grow in the same pot.
One got bigger than the the other, but the smaller one was more potent.
so your theory might be correct :)

Very interesting...I'm Definately going to try on both of these...when it comes to the main top colas...do i just cut the branch or take the entire toping?

i normally cut buds off or take branches but take your time and look closely. watch from day to day and you will see the buds that are swollen ripe:more then others

they look like they gained alot of mass in 6 days. one thing to note sometimes plants will look kinda puffy and gain alot of size. then next wk after compact somewhat then the actual calyx will swell major so watching this process will teach you :weed:

Thanks Dankk...I honestly didnt think the smaller one would make it. She was really a small runt. But she made it and wow...did she flourish...

I cut off one of the top colas because the light was starting to burn the tip...so snip snip! smells strong...fan leaves were really thick so i trimmed it a bit...

please share your thoughts on this quick topic...when chopping, do you trim your plant prior to chopping or leave the leaves on for slow drying purposes?

I've done both, to stop my entire house from stinking, I take the large fans off then hang dry the buds with the sugar leaves still on for 3-4 days. Then I take them down and trim the sugar leaves, I find it easier some people don't, it's really a matter of personal preference.

The strain I have currently is really mild while growing but during the trim is almost unbearably strong smelling, I trimmed one small plant my first run and was running around like a maniac looking for ways to combat the smell.

That's her at exactly 6 weeks flowering OG Grape Krypt 3 to go.
