datasheet my friend! http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/260/HLG-185H-SPEC-806126.pdf

if youre doing what i think youre doing to get above 36V you want 36V "A" model, not 42 or48 V

i figured out (after i bought one) that the 36V driver can be turned up to 40V with the pot so it can handle all of any 3070 or 3590 with room to spare

3070@ 2.8A = 38.59V
3590@3.6A = 38.49V

a 185 has 5.2A so you could run 2 cobs each at 2.7A (with 3590s you could prob use a -B as well,
a 240 has 6.7A so you could run 2 3590s at 3.35A
a 320 has 8.9A so you could run 3 3590s at 2.96A
Still don't get it. There's just a cheap ass $22 185h-48a online I was wondering if I could implement. But someone said it'd any cob between 24 & 48 volts could be used on it.

that only adjusts from 43-53V, youd have to find a cob with that voltage (or half that voltage, and put 2 in series), or use it to run a bunch of 660s in series or something

that said you could run it down to a lower voltage but only if you max it out on current. youd end up with 3.9A to work with, so say you were using the typ 36V,, youd only be getting ~36V * 3.9A = 140W instead of the usual 200, and at what efficiency? so its not that huge of a bargain over the $50 driver that pushes 200W

Still have some work to do, incorporate hangers and paint the little reflectors. Might get a couple more blue ones, the diodes are actually blue not a diffuser image.jpg

I think it's a decent little light after all. For once didn't spend 300$ trying to make a 75$ light. I might pick up 6 more of the blue ones. I'm going to hang my cmh in the center which I guess has more of the veg spectrum bulb and I have t5's with 6500k bulbs on the side walls. possibly figure how to get this new light next to the cmh in the center. That should cover more than enough for my little veg area. Also start slow with t5's and DIY light for awhile before slamming the cmh.

I've decided I'm gonna veg strictly with 4 CXB3070's 4000K at 1409ma dimmed in combination with cool white T8's and possibly my CFL hood FULL of 6500K spirals
