looking good.. i did something like it also, except i build a 10 x 10 room in my garage back corner away from garage door.... however i still sealed garage door up... i out the reflective board in garage door and then wrapped it with the reflective film that comes in rolls and is kinda expensive... then i ran 2x2 down the garage all the way across it so i could put insulation up... then i wrapped the insulation and garage door in 2 layers of thick plastic :) it works great... if its 100 out i can keep it around 80 in garage with little ac ducted from house ac... my room has its own window unit, which i plan to switch to mini split due to the excess heat put off from window unit....

i would go with 3 1000 watt hps , unless ur splitting your 10x 10 area again for a veg room..... 50 watts per sq ft is what your looking for
Thanks Guest34, You room sounds similar to my room. Yes I plan to do maybe a 70/30 or 80/20 split of the room. 70 - 80 % bloom and 30 - 20 % veg. I have a portable ac unit to help control the heat. I lined the walls with panda film and sealed all cracks and leaks with spray insulation form. I did my first grow with CFLs so I'm going to start out with my hps 600, to see how they do and if I'm not happy then it will be 1000s for my 3rd grow. Once I get the room finished I will see how things go and make adjustments as needed. Stop by again. Peace!

Do you have any pics of your room or any plants to share?

Ok, so I read something about super-cropping and decided to give it a half-assed attempt. So with my thumb and index finger I squeezed the the tops until I felt a crunch, didn't do any twisting or bending just the crushing. Below is what developed. Looks like the effort split the main cola into 2. I did this on a couple but the white Widow responded the best. The others developed some additional shoots but none as prominent as the widows. Feedback and comments are encouraged.

Do you think this will spliting of the main stalk will have a positive output?

Lookin good, all I woud say is that filter is not adequate for the size of your room and probably the cfm of your fan. A filter is like you fan, it has a CFM rating which means it can scrub x amount of air per hour. If your fan cfm excedes your filter cfm you will have dirty air coming out the other end. Try a straight through extraction for your lights, the cooling effect will be greater and expelled air is clean. Set up a smaller fan to match your filter to scrub the air in your tent.

If you don't want to do the above, i would advise reducing the amount of duct your using, ducting creates resistance and reduces efficiency of your extractor as well as make it work harder. You could use your extractor to link your lights and bring your filter much closer to the lights. Ya might also want to look into a extractor controller to lower its rating within range of your filter.

Thanks for your comments and info. I have 2 fans, they are both 6in 440 CFM fans. The carbon filter is a 6in rated 440 cfm also. This combination of fan and filter have been used by the previous owner with out any problems. May I ask how you arrived at your at the information you are sharing above in reference to my room and equipment?

Any comment or advice I lay down is only ever based on my own experience. My first filter was very similar to yours in dimensions and have been through many since, so you could say I know my filters. Your fan looked pretty beefy and I thought it's CFM was much higher. If I have offended, there was no intention. 440cfm is not alot for an area that size.

Hey MrMeanGreen, Thanks for explaining. No I was not offended, I appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge and experience. Yes, both fans are 440 CFM and were matched to the filter. I was thinking about actually mounting the 2nd fan on top of the filter but decided to use for a fresh air intake. Thanks again, I'm new at this and welcome all the help and feedback. That's how I grow and learn. Peace!!

You need to get your thinking cap on my friend. Your lights are as high as they can go pretty much and your plants look about 12" from hoods. How are you going to manage the stretch, there aint alot of space? Have you tried 'budblood' it significantly reduces stretch and keep the internodal spacing nice and tight..... but you need to hurry up and to be honest I don't think thats gonna be enough, ya might have to tie them main branches down to give you some room to grow into. Either that or get some serios supercropping (with bending) going.... NOW.

Other than that slight issue, you look hot to trot, good work.

Good morning MMG. Yes I probably going to run out of head room under the lights. More problems! I have about 10 inches to raise the lights and my tallest plants are about 24 inches from the ceiling. I will give the bud blood a try and try and bend then tallest girls over. Other than that I will have to move them to the outer perimeters and rotate them for exposure. May have to change my avatar to Jack the Giant Slayer

Peace!

Hey guys and gals! 16 days since I introduced my girls to the dark side. I have some pretty good bud sites already. Take a look and tell me what you think. I currently am using 2 600 hps lights and a friend let me use a couple of his lights. A 1000 and a 600 hps lights. So I'm going to reconfigure the lighting in the room, thinking about placing the 1000 hps in the center and then palce the 3 600 hundreds around it to light up the whole room. What do you think? any recommendations or do you think it will be overkill? Check out the girls. I've got 16 in bloom now and will be flipping 16 more to 12/12 in 2 weeks, so they will be 1 month behind the big girls. I'm trying to get a good rotation going. Looking for recomendations on rotations.
