Grandaddy Purple – Ready to Harvest?

This is my third grow, and first GDP. Read that Granddaddy Purple usually read around 10 weeks flower. I am at a little over 8 weeks flower. I need advice on "if you think I should harvest, or wait." Any advice would be appreciated.

They look close, but a picture of the whole bud, up close, would help. The trichs on the sugar leaves turn before the the ones on the caylxes.

I agree it does look close. If it was my plant, I would pic an average bud dry it in a week then do a smoke test. Or harvest 1/3 now and do that smoke test. Then I might leave a 1/3 on longer say the full 10 weeks.

Based on the bud pic, at least a week or two, the buds still have some swelling to do, and you want 98% the pistils shriveled and red/brown. A good indicator of near harvest is when the plant stops drinking water.

That isn’t quite ready yet. You do have some foxtailing going on so those will always be throwing out new white pistols. Based on the other ones though they are brown but haven’t started to recede yet. Ultimately it’s up to you but I know a lot of growers miss out on that extra special flower when their impatience overrules good judgement.

Thanks everyone for their input. And, that is why I posted, because in my first two grows I was impatient and believe that I harvested too early
It’s a learning process for sure! I think probably 99% of new growers harvest early either through impatience or ignorance. You’re doing great. You will learn more with each grow for sure, keep it up.
