Greenhouse Grow, 3 strains.

Hi, this is my second greenhouse grow first one sucked for a couple of reasons, one the strains I ran where shit, the second I kind of half-assed it, it was hot as shit in their, 100+ easy, I also used almost no ventilation, just rinky dink window fans for top vents.

This year I'm using a swamp cooler, which should be perfect for me in Colorado where the RH doesn't go over 25% often. It will also vent that room nicely, as the Swamp cooler moves over 4000CFM, I'll have a couple fans blowing around as well.

I'm using 3 strains, 12 plants, 7 are called Hollywood, 4 are Grape Ape, and one is Purple Train Wreck.

I'm doing LSTing on the Purple Train Wreck which is real stretchy, I'm not sure if I want to top the GA and Hollywood I'm not sure how these plants will react to it, last year the top plants I did didn't do as well as their untopped sisters. If anyone has experience with these strains I'd like to hear about it.

I'm going to go with a totally organic grow this time, I'm usiong compost tea from bountea, as well as their bloom formula the soil is sunshine #2, worm castings, and mushroom compost.

I'm using 10 gallon pots, but I'm really debating getting 20 or 25 gallon pots, but I'm not sure if it's too late for them to get big enough to fill out the pots they are in now. If this isn't the cast let me know, I will get them in larger pots immediately.

So yah, let me know what you all think! I'd love any advice or feedback.

New pics. Transplanted some to large 20 gallon pots. Got the swamp cooler working as well, keeping the temp a nice 82 degrees, and around 57 humidity. It was getting over 100, and real dry.

Anyway, here are the pics, enjoy. Feel free to comment.

Plants didn't experience much shock I don't believe. Though I screwed up my res, and it drained all 150 gallons into those 12 pots. I let the soil dry out for a around 4 days, so one of those plants looks a little droppy, after feeding them some(Bountea compost tea and some Liquid Karma) it perked right back up.

So my res is just using those water pumps(633 GPH) to both circulate and aerate the water via water splashing over the surface. I have no idea if this works, but I do know I no longer get the gunk that would congeal on the top of the res, and the water does not smell like it did before I came up with this idea.

Saw that Monarch outside the green house thought it was pretty cool, haven't seen one in these parts in quite a while.

Also, how come no one comments in here? Do I smell?

Well they loved the LK I think, 4 days later and there was very noticeable growth, faster than what I was seeing before IMO.

I changed the lay out of my fans too, which were arranged in quite a retarded manor, now it's basically just one direction of airflow, as opposed toplacing them where ever, dropped the temp a lot more than it was prior.

Nice looking grow Cesaro. Just make sure to keep an eye on that humidity. It actually should help out considering how low our humidity can be here in Colorado.

Anyways, I'll be pulling up a seat and watching this grow. Have a good one and happy growing to you.

Hey thanks for the response! Yah the Humidity at night is going up into the 70s, I think for the last 4 weeks of flower I'll be using the swamp coolers vent fan, instead of cool at night. I feel like the swamp cooler moves so muhc air through there that it should help with any possible mold, and reduce humidity considerably.

The plants are loving the 20 gallon pots, I made it pretty airy and once I added some LK they really went crazy I think, been giving them a soil drench with Molasses once a week.

Here are some more pics, taken yesterday.

Just putting it on vent like that will help, but if the side panels of your swamp cooler are still wet from the pump running during the day, it will still be throwing out air that is at least a little bit more humid than outdoors.
Your pictures make me want a greenhouse :)
Happy Growing.

Some more pics, should start flowering real soon, if not in the process already. For sure in another week they will be.

Plants near the cooler were getting the shit beat out of them by the air, leaves were drying up, so I had to rearrange the air direction. Problem solved.

Not much to add, started giving them bloom yesterday. Feel free to comment.

I'm real happy with how the LST did for the Purple Train Wreck, that thing was going to be so stretchy would have been a nightmare.

Are you doing a raised bed, or Pots? If pots what size? I'm really debating if I should go to 20 gallons.
A combo, dwc and soil. I have 6 that started in 5 gals buckets that then I linked together undercurrent style. And now I've got a bunch in 2 gal smart pots that need transplanting. I hear you about the heat and dryness, just got a humidity/temp meter for the space and it's at 99 deg and 25% rh. Cesaro, could you take a pic of your swamp cooler? Is it make specifically for greenhouses? How much did it set you back?

Yah I'll snap a pic of it later. AS for the cost, not sure, it was from a friend who brought it over, it had just been refurbished. It was sitting outside awihle actually, an entire winter in fact before I found a use for it. I do know it's not made for a greenhouse, it's just a typical swamp cooler. I'd guess it'd be around 500, probably less if you look around for one. If you're in a dry climate I think it's perfect.

I wont know until the end(no mold at all is goal), but I know it is humidifying the air, while cooling it, and constantly pumping into fresh air. It's pretty much solves the 3 biggest issues I had in one fell swoop. On top of that the electric cost is goign to be very low compared to even an energy star AC unit.

Well everything is definitely flowering, noticed major stretching around august 2nd.

Sprayed plants today, noticed some leaves with mites. Probably spray now for another 2 weeks, then hope I can outpace the mites to the end. Not much to report otherwise, plants are good. I pruned off all the bottom crap, and clipped up the branches.

The Purple Train Wreck LST'd perfectly. I'm very happy with it, although one side is substantially higher than the other, almost like a slope of colas. I probably should have lst'd the taller ones better. But I really just needed to keep that stretchy thing in check. It's colas are almost as high as the other plants so hopefully I will get a fairly even canopy when the stretching is over.

Pic of evap cooler as well.

Hey, I just found this journal.
Man, they should make a section for green house grows. So, how are they doing?

Hey, yah I stopped updating cause no one really seemed to care about it LOL.. But here you go, the Grape Apes are swelling nicely, the other two strains are longer flowering so they are lagging behind the GA it seems.

They are yellowing up, which I'm a little freaked about, but everyone seems to say it's normal.. Pretty much started RIGHT after their stretch ended..

Anyone, any input is appreciated as usual, don't be shy.

Right on man, They look killer. Hows that grape ape smoke? I was thinking about growing that myself.
You mentioned this is your second grow, did you grow it last year?

Yea the yellow, mine do the same thing. Right after stretch I start to get the yellow too. Thats my indicator shes starting to flower. My understanding is the plant needs certain nutes that it just cant get out of the soil so it uses the stored nutes in the leaf. I have tried adding more nitrogen but the dam things over grow the green house and still yellow so I just live with it now.

This round I got six plants. 4 tangerine dream a bubba kush and a trainwreck. Funny, the four tangerine dream were planted at the same time, same nutes and everything but starting to bloom at different times. Seems like they are a couple weeks apart. I got one in full bloom where another is still in pre flower as they go into flower I pick all the dead leaf off.... one by one.

Anyways thanks for the update/pics.

Last year was a total disaster honestly, honestly, atleast as far as yeild and quality goes. I learned a lot.. I made the mistake of just buying clones from the first dispensary I came across. The strains I got were shit.. One of them was so retarded I don't know how the dispensary could even sell it. I'm talking straight up one leaf sets the entire grow, the wispiest buds ever.. The others were crappy, airy buds, and weak as hell, except a maui wowie, and a bubble berry. Was really just a learning experience. I imagine how hot I had the GH last year was serious factor.

As for the Grape, it's good, it's really nice.

Yah, the yellowing is crazy, I have 2 plants in the ground, and they are green as green can be, flowered same time. It will be interesting at harvest to see how diff the smoke is, nitrogen apparently gives a pretty awful taste. Guess I'll learn first hand if it's true or not. I'll throw some more pics up next week.

So it's been awhile since my last update. Plants are nearly done.. Made a couple mistakes.. I overfed Molasses, and the Grape apes hated it, and got some severe N lockout, think my yield was totally screwed cause of it. I was able to stop the yellowing though, with some fish emulsion and foliar feed. But it's still produced some pretty frosty buds. If I hadn't fucked this plant on so much I think it would havbe been killer. It had resin forming around 3 weeks.

The Hollywoods I think are nice, I love the bud structure on them. The Trainwreck is the best looking plant in there as far as green foliage goes, plus it has those classic spears, which I like the look of.

The other plant is a blueberry which is right outside is doing amazing. It took about 3 months to reveg. I was considering tossing it after screwing it up by flowering it early, then revegging. The plant was so retarded looking, single blade leaves, spindly, curling leaves it was retarded.

But it sure looks awesome now. Anyone know around when blueberry's finish? I'm guessing another week.

Any comments are welcome, enjoy. :)

Right on man, good job!
They all look real healthy, I love how your leaf is still pointing up like that. Those look like some nasty colas.
I grew blueberry last year and she finished at about 9 weeks. Thick buds, had a little mold but she produced well, almost a pound.
