Alright, so i just got a 4x4x6 tent, right now im running a 400 watt hortilux. Buuuuuut, next round i'm thinking about upgrading to a 1000 watts. I have the filters and the fans to control temps and all that fun stuff, but should i go for more plants is less, and less plants is more? Any insight or personal experience would be awesome. Also, do you think a 1000 is overkill???? thanks !

is it a dr150 tent if so the 1000W should be cool for that. and yeah less plants is more if you are willing to spend more time in veg, meaning, 1 monster plant equals to 3 small plant get me? so to get a monster plant, number 1 you want to top them for the 4 colas(uncle bens thred is the best for learning how to top for 4 colas) number 2 you want to LST (low stress straining, this is when you tie the plant down so she can get even more bushy and stays low, number 3 you want bigger pots like a small plant would be in a 8-11L pots, a monster should be in a 15L pot atleast, you dont have to worry to mush on the hight as she will stay quit low due to getting toped and lst'd unless she is a haze plant, haze plants are known to just grow to tall. so normaly in a 6ft tall tent you want to veg till your plant is about 1ft to 1.4ft tall befor you put her in flower. coz you always want to keep the rule of thumb in mind wich is PLANT WILL DOUBLE TO TRIPLE IN ZIZE AFTER FLOWERING, so if you do decide to do this, the vegging process can take up to 8-9 weeks

growing monsters is much better because less plants equals to less risk and more yield

Did you guys make your own tent or did you purchase one? If it's the latter, is there one in particular that you recommend?
well most of us bought our tents.

secret jardin grow tents are sposed to be one of the top ones so far just make sure when you buy your tent it hasnt got the white liner inside make sure its reflective silver one

and if i was to a tent for the first time i would go with the dr150 one its got good space and it saves you money later when you relize you should have gotten a bigger one,
the dr150 isnt small isnt big its just prefect in my opinion

I run a 1000w in a 4x4 CHEAP tent the kind with the "white" inside and it works fine no issues......temps are 78-82 ...I do 9 plants in 3gallon pots....1.5-2.0 lb yield

Im not saying the cheap ones are better cause they arent im just saying its not going to hurt your plants if you use the cheap ones, it just wont be as user friendly or hold up as well...

We'll be using a Jardin DS 120 (120x120x200). 250 hps (blue spectrum) for germination and seedlings. 600 hps for flowering.
A budget 5" carbon filter and vent (360 meters per hour it says on the website) Growing in soil and hoping to grow 4 Amnesia lemon girls in there.
Anything obviously wrong in all of that?

IMG_0202.jpgIMG_0205.jpgIMG_0203.jpgIMG_0204.jpgI'm glad I found this thread. I have a 2.5' x 4'11" x7' tent, and I have flowered in it twice now with a 600 watt hps. I have used it basically for test runs on new genetics that I'm working with(my crosses). I just upgraded it to a 1000 hps, and a duel arc Hortilux blue hps bulb. I have an intake duct outside sucking in nice cold air, and seems to be keeping my temps and humidity just about right. I guess my concern is, is this overkill on the lighting or will it produce really well as long as my temps stay good? I have it full of plants in 1 gallon pots that are small, and have a nice full canopy. There is about 25 total. I used to get about 3/4 lb. off the 600, and am hoping for more like 1 1/2 lbs. What do guys think??

Alright...I posted this in the 400w club, but i feel that this tent thread needs some support.

Using a Galaxy Electronic Ballast, Econo-Wing, Standard Spectrum bulb, and FF base nutes with Kool-Bloom additive. FFOF Soil, Air-pots (not smart pots), 177cfm Vortex inline, and my tent is a 3'x3'x6.5' "GYO" tent from Amazon.com.

Started in August, chopped two in early December. They're Blueberry, got 5 oz dry from them. Im hitting about 0.5 g per watt...which isnt bad for my $800 setup.

Tent Power!!!

Hi folks. I'm a true newbie. This is my first grow (from bag seed). I'm lucky because I have an ideal setup for growing--a full basement, only half of which is finished. So I have a 4'x4' Sun Hut set up in a dark corner of the unfinished part. We never go into that part of the basement at night, so I don't have to worry about light leaks. Right now I'm about two weeks into flowering.

I had 21 seeds, and I figured that since they were bag seed that maybe only half of them would germinate. Wrong! 20 of them germinated. Yikes! Then I thought that I'd lose some seedlings. Wrong! All 20 plants flourished. I kind of freaked out because my tent isn't big enough for that many plants. I didn't really want more than five or six plants. LOL I'm using a 400W HPS. I went back to my grow shop and got a light spreader. It seems to have worked pretty well because the plants are growing just fine. As soon as I was able to sex them, I was able to take seven plants out. Yeah, that's right. I have 13 girls! They're all in 3-gallon Smart Pots. I've added some CFLs around the edges just in case the spreader isn't getting enough light into all the corners. I started them flowering when they were only about 20" high, so I'm hoping they won't get too huge. :-) So far, so good. They're all flowering nicely and look pretty healthy.

I have a question I'm hoping you can help me with. I've been using my exhaust fan ever since I started flowering. My temperature and humidity are just about perfect all the time. But here's my problem. I'm having my knee replaced on Monday. After I get home from the hospital on Wednesday, I'm going to have a physical therapist coming to the house three times a week for two weeks. I'm running an ionizer downstairs, but I can still detect some odor upstairs (not a lot, but some). I think the air exchange from the furnace is probably pulling some of the odor upstairs, plus the tent is directly below the living room, where I'll probably be when the therapist comes over. I'm running a little experiment today; I turned off the exhaust fan, and I'm going to see how hot it gets in the tent without it. I have a fairly big oscillating fan in there, and I have a couple of the vents open, since I don't have to worry about light leaks. If the temperature stays in the safe range, will it hurt my girls not to exhaust the tent? How important is it to pull the air out? Do I dare go two weeks without the exhaust fan running? I won't be able to go downstairs for several weeks, so I can't just run down there and turn it off when he shows up. My hubby will be going downstairs daily to check on the plants, and when he's down there he'll be opening up both sides of the tent. So they'll be getting fresh air at least once a day that way, along with whatever air comes in through the flaps.

I figured I could burn a candle upstairs or something like that, as well, but if I'm not pulling air out of the tent, I don't think I'll need to worry as much about the odor. What do you think?

Thanks so much for your help and for this thread.

Sounds like you're just starting off, so ill give you the biggest piece of advice ive used.

Get all your shit in place, and up and running before you get too many big plants...once those plants start to get big, your timeline will dwindle.

What i mean is, you want to have everything set-up, bolted down, and running at full capacity before you start flowering. It will give you, and your plants less stress.

if ur girls are in flower they going to smell more day by day, what you need to get is a carbon filter and connect that to your fan

I was really hoping to avoid having to get a carbon filter, since any other time of the year it's not a problem. This is just bad timing. Sigh. Well, maybe I'll try to build one this weekend. I saw a thread about homemade carbon filters.

Thanks, folks.

Well, I finally got my first tent set up. I got the DR120 II(rev.2)Pro from Greners.
I had found the new series tent at 2 online stores. Greners was $10 more, but they had the fan and filter I wanted, so I went with them.
It's the same size as the DR120(4x4x6.5), but it has 6 duct holes and is made with a more resistant material.
Right side panel has 2 duct holes(front bottom intake, middle top light), back panel has 2 power cord ports (middle top, middle bottom), left side panel has 3 duct holes(front bottom intake, middle top light, back top ?), and top panel has 1 duct (back right exhaust).

They say, one person can put up the tent but, I'm vertically challenged, so I had to break the first three rules of Don't tell anyone and call a friend of 43 years to help me.

Last night I also bought the DR120W (which Secret Jardin have discontinued). Last night it was listed in the end of year sale listings at Greners. It's not listed today, but they did add the DR120(limited quantity) to the end of year sale listings.

I'm now a member of the club,....Cheers,
