I'm trying some bag seed right now...some dank "orangy" looking stuff....kushy tasting......I can't get 'em to germ though. Soaked in water, and put in paper towel.....no tap roots. A couple split, but no root...temperature issue? I'm keeping them in the dark...Any ideas for stubborn seeds?

I have never soaked the seeds first. I do put them in a damp paper towel. I have had them sprout tap roots in the dark and sitting on a window sill.

I'm not a snob. The views that I hold come from watching many strains (not just in MJ) disapear. When I grow tomatoes I grow heirloom. It's an opinion that comes from forty years of gardening. Wish more people would take as much effort to keep a strain pure as many others do trying to breed them into oblivion. I respect quality and I ALWAYS try for the best that I can do. Bagseed is bagseed. It's my opinion that's all. I know I won't change your mind but maybe some other newbie will say fuck yeah, I want the best weed I can grow and I won't settle for less. An the world will be a better place LOL

I can honestly say I have never had trouble germing seeds, the best method i find is to scrunch 1 sheet of kitchen towel up in the bottom of a glass, then place the seeds in the "pockets", then spray with 4 sprays of water, fold 1/2 a towel up and place in on top. Then wrap the whole glass in a small dish towel and place somewhere where the temperature will be quite consistant. If the seeds have started to crack the case then thats good as the tap root is trying to get out, personally I plant mine in soil when the tap root is just exposed. Some seeds take longer than others to come to life I have only once helped 1 out by peeling 1 half of the shell away from the plant as it was stuck to the first leave and starting to rot. Personally I would not try to rush the seeds out but I always think of what would happen in nature and try to emulate it best I can indoors. when you first plant a seed that has shown its tap root keep the soil moist (just a few sprays of water). untill it starts to sprout then place it under normal lighting. I have sprouted a seed on a window but I find they stretch if you dont get them to proper lighting in time.
This is my opinion and I am also a newbie , hope it helps

I have no doubt you are good at what you do but I think as a newbie I would speak for alot of new growers by saying anything you yield from your 1st grow s the best you can do. You have to look at it from my point of view. I researched and still am on all the different stages of the plants cycle and I do want the best weed I can grow and that why I am rying with bagseed first as its free. If I spent the money on the seeds I want then somthing went wrong then I wouldnt want to try again. This way I get to learn about nutes, lighting distances, and all the other variables that need tuning. You also have to under stand that some people have to settle for less but can be happy doing it to.

dont buy some cheese seeds, coz it probably isnt the cheese, which was only available as a clone, if it really is the leaves should show a kind of double serration on the edges, furthermore why grow something that stinks and is morelikely to get you busted? just grow your bagseed. the final products quality will depend a lot more on the grow environment, and all the other variables, than strain. a good pheno from a good strain will still be shite if its not grown right, and an average pheno can be wicked if grown right., good luck. keep it simple.

Look guys, not trying to put anyone down but after the seed is put into the ground all things remain the same. Water nutes effort, all the same. If you start out with a known you can pad your hand by lets say getting a femminized seed. No males=more simple. If you live in an area of extremes you can pick a pheno that is more suited to your climate. Easier to grow to success. Some phenos are better grown by experienced growers, pick a pheno more suited to newbies. Buy a good stable pheno. less chance of hermie's. Some plants grow better in the medium of tour choice. better chance of a good yeild. Better pheno, better fruit. Fuji apples are better than crab apples. Same with pot. By growing bagweed you are stacking the deck to fail. Your not in any way shape or form playing it safe. You're playing russian roulett with four months work and for what? $10.00 US / good quality seed. Makes no sense to me. All that and in the process you are slowly degrading the general quality of marijauna in America. You're better than that! You might not see it that way but grow a top shelf product and you will be smokin quality for the rest of your life. Promise you that. Pop for the good seeds and stack the deck in your favor. Don't go into anything in life half assed. It becomes a habit!!
