Yéle Launches Haiti Earthquake Alliance

Friday, January 15, 2010 at 10:05AM
Yéle Haiti has pulled together a group of like minded organizations and first responders in order to help coordinate the delivery of emergency services and materials needed by victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Each or the organizations will undertake their own fundraising and on-the-ground operations, but have agreed to share resources, collaborate when it makes sense and avoid duplication.

The members of this new Haiti Earthquake Alliance are:

· Yéle Haiti

· AmeriCares

· Friends of the World Food Program

· ONExONE Foundation

· Pan American Development Foundation

· Airline Ambassadors

· The Belinda Stronach Foundation

Just formed in the last day, the Alliance has already pulled together four airlifts of medical supplies, food and other emergency supplies – along with teams of doctors. These airlifts will go out beginning Saturday. Keep checking back to this website for details.

i only have 10 bucks that i can send. i figured making 100 xerox copies of CJ's list and posting them on campus may be a better return for my 10$. humanitarian investing.

Its a terrible thing, and i understand the severity of it.
Ive even donated alittle myself.

However, im sick of hearing about it 24/7
A couple of updates a day will do just fine..

My wife pointed out that EVERYONE in the news media was down there clogging things up so they can make $$$$ off the coverage. How many supplies could have taken their place? We don't need the entire news outlets down there.... it's a circus.

I hear ya keenly!

I am disgusted by some of what i am hearing and seeing. this is truly a heart wrenching thing to witness, then we have to hear people like Pat Robertson say they deserved it? they signed a deal with the devil so their cursed and got what they deserved? HOLY CRAP! i couldnt believe my ears! then Rush Limbaugh chimes in how this plays into Obamas hands..... THIS IS NOT POLITICAL! WOW! These are HUMAN BEINGS! SUFFERING! TREMENDOUSLY! we shold have no second thoughts about helping our neighbors in their time of need. its what we do, its who we are, or at least who we should be.

5.7 earthquake in venazuela this morning, just south of haiti.

The machinations of rescue and rehabilitation is far below the level of the President.

They wrongfully get the credit and discredit. But that's true on many fronts.

Good job everyone! I too chose Yele Haiti as my primary group to donate to ($500USD) but I also send the "Haiti" text message to the Red Cross number once a day, at least for the next week or two.

ABC had an hour about it last night.

There are literally rotting bodies EVERYWHERE. Piles, laying on the side of the road, some roads have so many bodies that they are stacked a few deep. Some are using tire fires as crematoriums.

The people of Haiti have toothpaste under their noses to fight the smell. It is heartbreaking to see kids with their eyes glossed over with toothpaste under their noses.

Haiti has more problems than money can fix. Despite sharing land with the Dominican Republic, they are worlds apart. They have child slavery, exploitation, suffering on a scale that is unimaginable.

I swear In my 30 years, Ive never seen anything as fucked as Haiti is now. Theres really nothing left. Yes, it is suffering on an unimaginable scale.

Rush limbaugh compared the us militarys relief efforts to the meals on wheels program for elderly and poor people. Does the man have a conscience?

The scenes where bulldozers are being used to move dead bodies is terrible. They are also clearing buildings that havent been checked for life yet... Disease will ravage through the surviving population next and there is really nothing that can stop it!

Props to everyone helping out!! If I had a cell phone I would be doing the text donations as well. I do however play alot of poker on pokerstars and they have set up a real easy donation system to the red cross, just like entering a tourney! I've been doing a percentage of my daily winnings, and it seems to be helping my game out as well.

Although it is low, you must realize this was before the earthquake. I'm hoping now that Yele Haiti is on a different path due to the earthquake, and that my donation to them will go towards the people of Haiti and helping them... however after this, I will not be donating to them anymore.
