I want to start by giving everyone in this community a huge than you for all your help and advice. I sometimes read for 4-8 hours at a time here. Knowledge is power and makes for goooooood medicine. I have read here that there are a couple ways to know when to harvest.
1. Watch the hairs, when they are 80% red it is time.
I used this for my first 2 grows and and worked easily enough as I was a newbie.
I am still a newbie but decided to try the second method.
2. Watch the resin sacs, they have three distinct colors during the growth process. First they are clear and then they turn milky or cloudy as they mature. The third state is where the magic happens. They begin to turn amber or golden in color.
By the way - how do I change the line under my avatar that says stranger? There are plenty of folks here that seem stranger than me. I have looked around and can't seem to find where that is done.
In order to see this clearly you need a microscope. I bought a hand held microscope from radio shack. It goes from 60X - 100X and has a built in light. It is powered by 2 AA batteries. It works great and set me back about $11.00. When was the last time you bought something so important for so little money? Last night I took one finger from a leaf off of a bud and it was amazing. The resin sacs look like little mushrooms. 80% were milky and the other 20% were amber. With that knowledge I started flushing the plants.
This was clearly visible at 60X but at 100X it looked like an alien planet.
If you have never experienced this I recommend it. It made me all happy inside!
