Harvest time?

I know this is probably the most discussed topic everywhere but I still can’t really understand when is the best time to cut it down.

I’m planning to harvest her in about 1 week / 1.5.What do you guys think?

It’s been almost a week since I started to cut on the feeding plan and this is how she looks:

I'd say you want to wait more like a month...

Right now looks like 50-70% of the pistils are brown, you want that to be more like 95%+. Then once they're all or almost all brown, the bracts will swell and the buds roll look almost like popped popcorn. That's when you want to think about harvesting.

I was wondering because I see some amber thricomes already and it’s like week11 - autoflower

There is more to a harvest ready bud than triches- mass / bulk , pistil recede , etc.

Too easy to cut too early , very difficult to cut too late. Even autos.
Ye, I get it. Im not in a rush at all. I just didn’t want to ruin the harvest by doing it too late.

It’s my second grow so, I’m still using online guides to help me on this step.

I guess I will resume the feeding then, the plant doesn’t seem to be showing much signs of deficiencies so, hopefully, stopping by almost 1 week didn’t do much damage.

and… I guess I will wait for more brown pistils and then i will think about the 2week-flushing

It'll be literally months before you harvest "too late." If the plant dies or the buds get moldy, then it's too late, otherwise you're all good.

Honestly I have no idea where the idea of trichomes being the best indicator of ripeness came from. At best it's a very advanced technique that will more often than not lead new growers to harvest too early if they try it. In my mind, it's more of an academic thing, not something that home-growers should be concerned about at all.

If a plant has 30-50% white pistils and the bracts are not swollen, it's not ripe no matter what the trichomes say.

Any chance you can show me how a swollen bract look like? I’m looking around but im not sure if I’m looking at the right places

Trichomes yea, Pistils yea, yea yea yea to all of these things, but my personal surefire tell-tale sign of when to cut is when the plants stop drinking water. I grow hydro so its a bit easier to determine but I have found when the plants stop taking up water its time to chop. And its funny..... you don't really read about this as an indicator online very often.

EDIT: and of course thats with relitively healthy plants. Sick plants can stop taking up water as well.

Here's one of mine. See how your buds still look kinda hairy in comparison? All those hairs will shrivel up and die, and the base of them will swell into a little seed pod (only with no seed inside). Some of yours are getting there already, but you want to wait until they've almost all done it.

And there are lots and lots of examples in this thread: https://www.rollitup.org/t/whos-got-the-fostiest-buds-lets-see-how-frosty-a-bud-can-really-get.330370/
thank you!

so… I guess my buds were becoming pretty similar with the one you shared with me. But somehow all them got a few new white pistils from nowhere.

is this a normal behaviour?

Dang, what a difference 2 weeks makes!

In my experience they will sometimes throw out a flush of new white pistils towards the end, and then a few more will keep trickling in here and there, sometimes indefinitely.

If a bunch appear all at once, and the plant is still in good health, then I would give it a week or two for those to mature as well.
