Has anyone ever gotten a good yeild from using 5x23 watt cfl's?

I've gotten decent yields off 2 68 watt bulbs ( only a lil more wattage) about 2-2.5 off one plant. Heavily trained and in a 3 gal pot.
 
I don't know why people just don't invest in the right equipment. Doing it on a budget or not having what you need only brings problems.. use them lights for household and buy some lights that came from a grow shop and reccommended for what u want to do.
 
Sometimes you can't afford the proper setup, so ya have to do with what you can get till you can. Gives a good period to learn about growing before tossing in a bunch of cash too

My thoughts exactly. I growed 1 plant under cfls. But had a 400 watt mh\hps in mail before flowering was over.now i have 1000watt hps two 400. Mh 1 with switchable ballast..be surprised at deals on craigslist,amazon and ebay .rep zombie

Look man if your just startin out yes you can grow a plant with 5 cfl's. When I started I used shop lights lol. I did a grow with 14 cfl's beacause a friend was throwing away a bathroom light fixture and I had the cfl's already. Got 6 mason jars off of 4 plants good quality weed. You'll learn a lot growing a plant or two with cfl's and hopefully get some bud too. good luck
 
I have 2 13w cfls, 1 23w, but am going to buy 2 42w bulbs today.
My bubba kush clone has been doing pretty good, doesn't grow very fast though. Hopefully I'll get more money soon
 
30$ for 2 68w bulbs at HD and you can get a lamp kit at Wally world for 4-6$ and a splitter at HD for 2-3$ so for less than 50 bucks you can have enough light for a medium sized plant.

i agree.. i think it's cool to start out with w/e you can afford to get a grow or two under your belt before running out and buying a pricey setup..

a lot of people might get into growing thinking that it's easy to do, they have a greenthumb, etc, etc, but after a few weeks or w/e, they find that growing is not all that they thought it would be...
go check out something like craigslist and you'll see more grow equipment for sale on that site than you might find on a hydro stores site as tons of people jump in at the deep end only to find out it's not for them..
if you start off small and do a good job then and learn a few things and decide that you want to continue growing, you can always move everything up in size imho..
 
cfl's can do good, depends on how big you're wanting to be, for a small scale grower cfl's are a god send
i use a grand total of 78w, that's 3 26w bulbs, plant is a week or so from chop

Hey man I'm intrigued by your second pic there, whats ur setup like? Is your plant in a large pvc pipe or something??

pretty much, it's a 'tube' 38 inches tall, 15 inches wide
i used aluminum flashing from home depot, tricky but doable with some basic skills
flashing is brown on one side, white on the other, damn cheap grow chamber and it keeps them lumens where they belong

one 26w cfl did this.... If I put 5 hanging a couple inches above and around it...
