Having an issue with my cannabutter....

Made it yesterday and put it in the fridge around 3 pm (est)...as of 10:30 this morning it still doesn't look right...like the top part is hardened, but there is alot of yellow weedy looking sludge at the bottom...it looks like it might be the best part of the whole thing...should I cook it down again and let it sit once more? Or is there supposed to be yuck at the bottom of the bowl under the water...like the water still kinda looks milky as opposed to when I see other people's it looks like just dirty water, mine is still pretty cloudy...So does it just need to sit longer? I want to make some peanut butter cookies...somebody help me out. Thanks.

the sludge is the left over parts of the butter, you want the top part. run the sludge thru a strainer and add it to the butter for an extra kick, or do it again with the sludge to make sure you get everything there is to offer.

we cook ours with a couple cups of water added directly into the butter/cannabis mix. when it separates in the fridge we just poke a hole to dump the water out and it seems to end up with a nice clean taste and you end up with less chlorophyll in your butter.

Ok. Thanks...so it is fine to use now though, but I should save the sludge....would melting it down and letting it reharden help...? because to tell ya the truth straining all that is messy and gross...if I could melt it down and let it reharden would the sludge still be at the bottom? Did I not cook it long enough. I see people that make it and it looks perfect...butter on top---water on bottom nothing in between. I just have all this gray area...

Well I turned the burner on low and put in a few cups of water and 1 cup butter, once that began to boil I added in my material, and then I turned it all on low for around 3 hours...It almost looks like it didn't cook long enough. So you mean that after you pur in the butter and water and weed mix you add more fresh water?

i use a makeshift double boiler so that my butter/cannabis/water mix is in a pan that is sitting in boiling water, but never gets hot enough to boil itself. we also cook ours on and off for at least 24 hours. another trick is letting the butter cool down to almost room temperature a couple of times during cooking and then reheating. seems to help bring all of the possible goodness in to the butter. or it may do nothing at all but i think it does.
