HELP!!! 1-week after transplanting clones and things are gettin' weird.

Hey RIU...

I am a total newb. So bear with me. I bought these ladies from a dispensary - picked the two healthiest looking plants out of the case just under a week-ago. 3rd Dimension on the left and Dairy Queen on the right.

  • I am using a four 24w 6500K HOT5 and two 14w 5000K (50w equi) CFL...with a 124 W total.
  • Transplanted them immediately into a Fox Farms Ocean Forest and Fox Farms Light Warrior mix...60/40 mix respectively - 1.5 gallon plastic containers...will switch to a 4 gallon bag for flowering.
  • I have the light about 1.5" away from the tops
  • The box I built is an ikea-tripple-shelf-POS wrapped in Orca Film - really good stuff...supposedly.
  • I have plenty of ventilation, carbon filters on the intake and ouputs
  • I also have a fan running and the temps are running ~75 degrees
  • I have FIMed both of the tops (and some auxiliaries) and I am starting to train the main stem down to expose more node sites on both plants.
  • I plan to start a SCROG in about a week to keep them short and even to max the efficiency of my HOT5.
  • I also plan to add two more CFL's in a week to boost my Wattage.
  • pH for soil and water has been consistently between 6.5 and 6.1 with very little fluctuation.
  • They are on a 19/4 light cycle...might boost to 24 soon, but wanted to ease them into it, as they were being kept in a BIG case with CFL's...very little light for the baby clones.

The second I transplanted them, I added nutes on the first watering...1/2tspoon General Organics "grow" and 1/4tspoon GO root booster into 32 oz of water and put half on each plant over the coarse of 2 days...thinking it would give them a boost.

Since then, and mind you it's only been a week, I have watered ONCE (last night)!!!

But for some unknown freaking reason, my 3rd Dimension's main fan leaves are drooping, yellowing and have some areas of burn on them. The new growth sites, however, look great...though some at the top are starting to droop as well.

That said, my Dairy Queen is crushing it. some burn spots and some of the tips are a bit burnt...but the color is nice and dark green, it's bushy and awesome - no drooping.

So...WHAT GIVES!?!??! :wall::wall:

I think (because I have spent the past 3 weeks reading posts on RIU to prep for this) that I am overdoing EVERYTHING. Less water, NO nutes (as FFOF has a bunch in it), and longer light cycle.

If you help me, and things start going better, I will journal my whole grow on RIU!!! :leaf::clap:

Unfortunately your pics will not open but it does sound like you overfed you plants, as you said FFOF has nutes in it already and by adding more you burned your plants, the dark green you see maybe a sign of that, use just water for a week or so until you see signs of plants needing nutes.

Thanks, DeeTee

here are the pics. Not sure what happened. 3rdDIMENSION.jpgBOTH.jpgBOX.jpgDAIRYQUEEN.jpgYELLOW3rdDimension.jpg

Anyone else? I could surely use some help now that the pics are up. I am super super specific on my tracking of nutes, water, etc. I've been using distilled water (out of a big plastic thing...I hate that) as well. Forgot to mention that...

They look heat and moisture stressed.. I feel like a broken record today, so if you have heard it before, sorry.

If that is the case......Don't know what you are going to do about your heat, but I would mostly stop watering them for some time until they are near wilting, and the next watering I would only use water and then water less frequently until needed..

Make sure my heat was in check and back off for a bit and let her re-group.

Great...thanks 333maxwell.

I didn't think my heat was out of control...actually, I though ~73-75 was darn near perfect. Moisture, on the other hand...totally have me there.

Sooooo no more nutes and stop overwatering?

That's an easy fix. I was freaked - thought it was mites or some shiz like that.

It does not look like heat stress to me (I live in the Mojave and grow in an un airconditioned room and have carried MJ through a 120 summer).

It looks like nutrient burn (hot soil + nutes on a young clone ouch!), and to much water. If it where me I'd pot them up to a much larger pot and move from the soil to Sunshine Mix #4 to rescue them.

Why? Because Advanced Sunshine Mix #4 has nothing in it but Coco Coir, Vermiculite and Mycorrhiza so you can add nutrients early on and because of the Vermiculite it's not as sensitive to over watering. If you don't want to move substrates you might want to consider potting them up to a larger size so it will dry out quicker.

Good luck on your grow.

So what would happen if I just left them in there with less H20, no feed and just flushed them completely when I water them next? Would that do it? I won't be able to get to the supply store until Monday...four days from now.

Would that work or would they be dead by then?

So I just transplanted my 3rd dimension (as my dairy queen looks quite healthy) into a manna mix/light warrior 50/50 mix. It should be nute-less-ish and should run water right through it. Hopefully this will remain dry enough and nute-free enough to have my girl spring back. Any thoughts? I have yet to pH this mix...so I am hoping due to the nute-free-ness, the pH will be quite balanced.

Yeah?

thanks RIU.

This would have been better than what you did.

Did you read what Manna Mix contains? It's so hot!

From it's manufacturer's website: http://www.coloradoearth.com/product-articles/soil-and-amendments/manna-mix

Excellent for transplanting!
Contains Coconut Pith, Peat Moss, Pumice, Perlite, Earthworm Castings, Compost, Glacial Rock Dust, and Mycorrhizae
Fortified with 5-9-4 Rose and Flower Guano
Now has Calphos and Dolomite AG10!

I recommended Sunshine Mix #4 Advanced which was primarily Coco Coir, Vermiculite. There are no nutrients at all in that. I hope your babies survive this. I am sorry if you somehow misunderstood.

Okay...this is f-ing madness. I know have 4 bags of soil and 2 plants. WTF!

So I followed your direction and got a effing bale of Sunshine #4....no advanced. Directly planted my one plant into it...the other plant seems to be freaking LOVING the FFOF and FFLight Warrior 50/50 mix I gave her, so I am going to keep her where she is.

As for the other...you were right. Manna burnt it more. I am going to be lucky if I don't off this one.

Would you recommend root-booster tea so i can get its roots healthy again? The root ball didn't look like it produced any new roots since the first, second and now third transplant.

PLEASE get back to me...I am just going to pH my water and do straight water for now...assuming it already has plenty of nutes as it looks like I threw it in a fire.

Thanks for your help!!!
