Hello guys
``````first time growing auto and I am surprised almost 20 days and only 5 inches tall it is supposed to be ready in 8 weeks? What happened hear ? Are they supposed to boost up suddenly? They also seem very weak. Really disappointed up to now. I grow in a medium with 50% soil with coco and 40 perlite and 10 vermiculite right now I have them under 100 w cfl each temperature 25 celcious PIc 1 Amnesia Haze auto pic2 Heavyweight Fast & Vast Auto. Please any advice?
That's not much light for a plant. Also, if you did *anything* to stress them they are paying you back for it now. I've found that if you stress an autoflower it stops growing in it's tracks. I had one fully mature plant that was only 3" tall; I smoked the entire bud in like two hits.
Heres my autos at day 30. So yeah yours are really undergrown.
When you say 100w are you saying actual watts or equivalent? its a huge difference. A 100w bulb is really only 23 actual watts.
No I mean original 100 w that are sucked out of my socket, I just noticed that they boosted when I added good amount of nutes, I was told that autos dont like too many nutes and actually prefare half the amount and after week 3, but I guess mines needed it
Ive done everything they told me not to with my auto, and it loves every minute of it. I give it the fox farm trio nutes full strength every watering, i do LST training on it and i transplanted it from a party cup. The 3 no-nos and its up there with the biggest plant ive had at this age.
Dont listen to the seed banks time estimates. Autos should start to preflower in about 30 days. The 8 weeks is counted when flowerng starts vigorously. That means 1 week after preflower you start counting those 8 weeks. Plus 8 weeks usually means 9-10. Biggest mistake is early harvest before its done.
I wouldn't use vermiculite. You usually want the soil to dry faster. That can be an issue when starting an auto in the container it will end up in. A large container takes a long time to dry, delaying your ability to give more nutes (or, causing you to overwater and keep the soil too wet).
Cree LED lightbulbs or spot/flood lights at Home Depot are better than CFL. (1:1 warm:cool in veg, 3:1 in flower). But, I don't think that's your problem.
Hey good luck.
One guy said to feed full str every watering and you're gonna take that advice? Damn you must be new to these forums and growing in general.
RIP tiny autoflowers:cry:
Well thanks for all your response. Yes i am quite a NOOBY here so Iam all ears. I thought feeding them was good because they responded very well, no signs of nutrient burn. But I guess what my friend smokenpassout said may be true. Except transplanting them I did no other thing to stress them and they look really small for a strain advertised as 8 weeks from seed to crop. Even you tube videos show doubled size plants in 20 days that I am right now. so please any HELP is most welcomed
Overfeeding doesn't always result in burnt tips. It can also result in salt build up, which leads to acidic soil and nutrient lockout. If your use of vermiculite keeps the soil wetter longer, or contributes to you watering too frequently, that will hold the ph even lower (as mentioned above).
Well my ph is 6.8. the only issue may be extra water the pot does not dry out. But the weather is not helping its snowing outside I cant control the temperature of the soil which is wet and cold a little.
The more light you can afford, the better. For two small plants I would at least double the wattage.
