My 2 plants are in a small closet, a foot and a quarter by one foot and a quarter. (22in x 22in) I have 2, 75w daylight lights which output 1150 lumenes ea. the average temp of the room with a 6in fan on with the door shut is 84-85 which is too hot right? what can i do to help lower the temp while the door is closed and the lights are on??:wall:

try putting ice behind the fan that way its blowing colder air. or you really need to start venting the heat out with exhaut fans

Get another fan, run 1 circulating low, 1 runnin straight @ the lights
Ok I went and bought a 10" fan and have it pointing downward twards the plants/lights. My other 6in fan is pointing upwardand is an even level with the plants. I left the door shut over night and when i opened it the temp was 87degrees with 40% humidity. idk what else to do to lower temp....more fans?

if u figure this out let me know. I am able to turn on 2 64w(300winc) and 2 26w cfls on with the temps reaching 81. ive got 4 other lights that need to go on but it will get way too hot. I was kinda thinking of putting 2 fans in the bottom floor, and have the ducting running into the crawl space that way the fans will blow up at the lights. just an idea though.

how do u heat an area? u add something with heat to warm it right? how do u coo an area you have to add something to cool it down hence the reason y i said to add an ice pack or two behind ur fans to have cooler air blowing.

you need an exhaust fan
your heat is getting trapped
i had the same problem, still do actually
i just said f*** it and threw my new one outside and theyre LOVING it!!!
if your box is completely closed your effed
need ventilation not air circulation

thanks all for help. When the door is closed it is completly sealed, no air/light in out, which is good but bad, and in my apt i cant drill holes in any of the walls. anyways, I still have the 2 fans in there, just during my 12/12 cycle, when the lights are on, i keep the door cracked so air vents, when they are off, the door is obviously kept shut, but no heat is being produced, so thats fine, but I am going to try the ice though and see if it help! Thank you!!

it should help bring the temps down to where u need them to be cause i had that prob in my closet did the ice thing and it helped but u really need to look into an ehaust for the room to so its pullin the heat out

You are not going to want to mess with ice packs and what not for months at a time, and they are of little use anyway.

If you can't exhaust that air that you're heating with your CFL ballasts, you essentially have your plants in an oven. It sounds as if you're most likely trying to do something that your life/living situation does not permit. Reconsider the whole idea.
