Oh, and I never have had to use an incubator. Ive heard many people make fun of them though. Incubating is such overkill for something that is really all about moisture content and how even it is throughout the medium.

well incubators have moisture its a water incubator. and that keeps it at a constant temp unlike my buddys house which he has at 62 degrees i have no clue why and also im not trying to grow them in my house so thats another reason why

In the jar stage an incubator is not optional in certain climates. Which is why you can use a fridge to store mycelium slants for longer term.

Personaly I don't like em unless you got a decent one with fans that prevents hot spots, otherwise one side of the jar dries out, while all that moisture goes and condenses on the cold side....

nelly if you did everything right, and you spores werent bunk. you should have seen a fuzzy mycellium growth begin in 3-5 days.... either your spores were bunk, your substrate to dry...... wich wont aloow the spores to catch and colinize, or your sub. was too wet...wich also gives same results..... i say scrap it and start over..
after only 5 days?
some of mine took 2 weeks to start showing. and then fruited rather well. :)

relax and give them a week or 2.

when i did cakes, grow bags w/e the mycellium always showed at 3-5 days...... i always incubate at 82-85.... get 100% col. in 2-3 weeks...... 14-16 days more typical for half pint jars...... and this was with any strain of cubensis......... pan cyanz are a lil slower. and need dung added to substrate

If you knock up a jar with two different strains of cubes, they will compete until one is dominant and one is food...
