Help with a friends grow! Stretched, scrawny, 3 months old!

So i finally got to see my friends plant that has been growing since the END OF AUGUST. I expected to see a fully flowering sativa. I see this: a 1.5' tall, skinny ass little plant. Its been living under two 15w flouro tubes, and no fan. The tubes were 2'+ above the plants. It has been undr 12/12 lighting for some time, with no sign of budding, but it does appear to be female.

Immediately, I set out to help him. I got two more lights in there, both 23w CFL's, and he has two more to get in there. I got a fan on the plant with a light breeze to encourage stem strengthening. I also transplanted the plant into a pot. The dirt it was in was crap, from lowes with sand and rocks in it. The dirt I moved it into is part peat moss soil, part perlite, and part scotts potting soil. I also advised him to move the lights much closer (which we did) and put the plant back into 24 hour lighting. When transplanting it, the plants entire root structure was no larger than a tennis ball, and the dirt was extremely compact. The dirt it is in now is nice and fluffy, and I am hoping to have some nice root growth now that it is getting more light.

I was also thinking... would it be better to cut the top off of the plant, and cloning it?

WOW,, that is some really shitty dirt... lol.. where did he/she get it, from the driveway?

MORE LIGHT!!!! Lowes sells a really nice 43 watt CFL bulb, which is equal to 150 watts.

This is a good way to learn though.

I am at a loss for words on what to do. But I am thinking, if it was my plant, and I had no other seeds, I would top it, and clone the top, and have two plants.

That is the worse case of stretching I have ever seen. If it continues that way, you will have a 15 foot plant that yields a 1/2 ounce of buds.... :)

It does look nice and green though.

OH!!!!! LST that bad girl.. tie it over.

that plant looks ill, its begging for more lite, if you carry on growing it like that, dont. your wasting your time, that wouldnt produse 2 gram of bud.
id say it was a friends grow,
get some lites maybe a 250 hps, and then tie it up, or do a scrog grow, the plant would like that.
stop being mean to the plant, and give it some lite, or id just sling it, cos your wasting your time.

Carefully just tie the plant over, and hold it there with a string or ribbon or something. IF!!!! the plant had other branches these branches in turn will turn up and become almost like main colas. The plant is able to get more light also while it is bent over, because more area of the plant is exposed.

I guess you only looked at the picture, and didnt read the actual post.

Anyways, would it still be ok to grow sideways, even if it doesnt need to be tied down? Without the clothes hanger, it falls right over... should we just let it fall?

i read the tread but the plant need more lite, have you also had the plant on a timer, cos if you dont stick to your 12/12 times, the plant will go hermie.
id take clones and go halfs with your friend for some more lighting.
but maybe the new lite mite help, id go halfs with your friend on a 250 or 400 hps and take 6 to 8 clones and start again,
these plants are 5 half week vegged under flos, but today they are going under hps for 12/12.
hope to see loads of new clones from you in the new year good luck.
hope these pics help, the flos have to touch the plant nearly.
i topped thses 2 weeks ago, hope they help, show what flos can do if you use them rite.View attachment 49924

Hmmm,, well, if you had a fan on it, and as thin and weak as it is. with no support I would think ot would break like bending a coat hanger over and over. But i do not know. I have never had a plant that stretched out, or seen one that bad.

Myself, I would trash it and start over, but that is just me.

Crazy, I am thinking even topping that plant under his conditions will not help.. heck even getting a better light and toping might not help enough. New growth up top with a better light might grow faster then the stock can build up. But Like I said, I am only guessing here. That plant is stretched worse then I thought possible. there is not one secondary stems, and that plant is 3 months of growth. But then again, I always say, anything is buildable if you want to throw enough money at it.. This kind of fits here.
