I also am a first time grower, and i had already spent so much money on the grow supplies and equiptment that i hardly had any $ left to build a traditional growbox. So i got to thinking and came up with this idea and it worked well for me. Hope it could work for you also. I just ran to staples and got 6 30x20 styrafoam posterboards with the shinny white outside. At staples i also picked up a few bag clips and a few small pins.. I pinned the sheets at the corners an left the centers disconected for portability to access my plants, i just use the bag clip to keeep them stationary while not being used. any questions or suggestions? Also, it is very easy to cut with a box cutter to have inserted venthilation.. Ps the light is hanging from a shelving above the box, you can also use eyehooks in ceiling. I have a very small fan so it doesnt blow the sides or anything, however i would imagine a bigger fan might do so. This box is surprisingly study and cheap!
