Getting in the way of a bullet would be jumping in front of someone at a shooting range.

Casually walking down the street and getting hit with a bullet is not 'getting in the way', that's being shot while minding your own business.

No where did I say that. I said he fired into the street, which he clearly did. Did you not watch the video or did your fingers beat your brain in a race to comment?

I wasn't able to see around the corner so I wasn't sure if the robber was hit or the old man just shot at him. Can you see around corners in video tapes?

Let's ban sand boxes. Think of how many children could get hurt it some 20 year old with a grudge against his mother could just use the sand box in the backyard.

Yes, anything can be used as a weapon, but most things are not inherently weapons. Sand doesn't require some form of regulation, guns obviously do or the USA wouldn't have the highest gun murder rate in the developed world.

If you had read my post, you would have read that criminals care NOT what laws are in place. It's not a hurdle for them, it's an impediment only to law abiding citizens.

There is virtually nothing that can't be used as a weapon somehow. CO2, glass, a nail, a sponge could suffocate as easily as as pillow, you could even use a large piece of steak to kill someone.

But they are not intrinsically a weapon.

My point was that your argument sounded exactly like arguing for tougher car laws. It would certainly make the streets safer for everyone if at least somewhat regular driving tests were required. Or is that somehow helping the state too?

They're criminals because they disregard laws, laws won't stop them in all cases but, having some storage regulations would stop guns from being stolen as frequently. I've never heard of someone stealing a gun safe in a B and E. If they do steal it, at least you made the son of a bitch work for it. Most B and E's consist of easily stolen things.

I would think lessening the total number of gun homicides would constitute progress for either side? Less people being murdered is usually good for everyone involved, is it not?

Not at all. My opine had to do with the overwhelming number of bad drivers there are. Car laws will never improve the skill of the operators.

How is expecting adults to act responsibly infringing on peoples rights? No one has even suggesting taking guns from people. You have a hyper sensitivity to this issue.
