There is an episode of Doomsday preppers where a father and 2 sons are out target practicing and the dad gets an ammo jam and mistakenly places his thumb over the barrel while he attempted to clear the jam...
Blew the top 1/2 of his thumb off... I dont recommend this technique....

So get gunshops to mandate a weapons handling course before they will sell someone a gun, get them to require proof of secure storage. Education would do a lot to solve these problems.
So what about the millions and millions and millions of people who already own one of the hundreds of millions of guns? What you gonna do about them? What do you do about the hundreds of millions of guns that are already out there that may or may not have proper safe storage?
they do that with cars, yet look at all the "accidents" still happening.

I don't think there's much that can be done about that. Aside from fellow gun owners calling out people acting like idiots with their guns when we see it. If I see someone acting in an unsafe manner, I do my best to correct it. Expecting someone to treat a weapon like a weapon is not unreasonable in my opinion. I've realized legislation isn't going to fix the problem, us gun owners of America need to start holding each other to a higher standard as a whole. Accidental deaths can happen, but if they happen due to lack of prevention, you are just as responsible for not taking reasonable steps.
In short, I don't do anything. WE as gun owners need to police our own more effectively, clearly.

Which is the reason the 2nd amendment exists, because although laws and government cant keep you safe, a loaded .45 will do the trick!

You are a minority my friend.
I do not understand the obstinate opposition to making people be responsible with firearms. I'm not suggesting taking any firearms away from US citizens, or registering of firearms.
Is it really too much to ask for people that want to carry firearms in public be at least somewhat responsible?
