Howd you get your TV set up? I'veheard of THX disks and stuff but I haven't seen them. I'm pretty happy with what I have but would sure like to see the results of a tweak like that.

im a best buy silver premier member. i spent over 2500 on myself for christmas there. i get a free professional tv calibration a year from BB. they go into the service menu, not just the basic tv setup. i have a 2.19 gamma setting which was near perfect on my set, according to their testing equipment when they set the tv up. hands down a 100% difference in PQ (picture quality). i ONLY watch HD tv and bluray movies. nothing else. yes, im a snob when it comes to this. I also have my audio dialed in with a mic for seating position. i still need to tweak the freq and hz of my eq tho. as it sits, its the fakin bomb. nice crisp clear highs, mids, and lows from the sub.

go to avsforums.com. you'll learn alot on that forum. especially the sub "room crawl". basically how and where to set your sub for optimal listening.

if you have a new tv, i have a link to download a 16 color slide pixel break in program you can dl onto a flash drive. i played this for 200 continous hrs right out of the box brand new. this conditions ALL the plasma pixels evenly for the best possible picture in the long run. i got my set calibrated with 407hrs on the ticker, which is a perfect time to get it done as the set is well broken in and ready for optimal calibration.

one more thing, not ALL HDMI cables are created equal. i run Monster thx 1000 hdmi's. they are about 135.00 each (1 for cable box, 1 for ps3). i have a 600hz refresh rate tv and these cables are rated to 640hz. if you dont have the proper cable, your getting jipped on pict quality and sound quality.

Not much into tv for the most part, but I live for good sound. I have my heart set on a set of JBL Eon 515's and a powered sub. Just enough sound to keep me and the neighbors happy!

I'm all good in the sound department.. I used Audyssey about 20 times just to get it dialed in perfect. I knew you could have BB do that, I've heard there is a setup disk you can use for TV's also.. I can't remember what brand of cables I bought, they weren't cheap ones, they have a rope look to them instead of just a rubber wire.. I don't have any a/v issues..

the disc is one thing, but getting into the tvs set up menu is another story, theres so much more to do in the bios of the set vs the general settings. often times you void the warranty if its not done by a qualified person, and you could actually really screw up your set if done the wrong way. do a search for disney's WOW disc. or certain Star wars movies have a thx calibrator built into the disc in the menu options. another option is going to the avs forum, typing in your tv model number and calibration, and try out some settings people use. i used this setting for years before i got this one calibrated. also C-net is a HUGE calibration site. all they do is calibrate tv sets, and post the results. wish i had the knowledge and job like that, dialing in tv sets all day.....and while medicating.
