I'm starting a grow and I haven't grown for awhile.

I got my self a tent and an old Ballast with a 600 W MH and a 600 watt Hps( like 15 years old, still work like a charm)

I'm only growing 4 seeds. 4 feminized autoflower sour diesel.

My question is should I just use my led lights for when there small to save on power cause the light does seem overkill and than transition to the mH?

Also should I use special nutrients in the dirt and water?

I attached 2 pics 1 of my grow tent and 1 of the nutrients I was looking at... maybe that's just for hydro. This is a dirt grow.

Yeah I would be interested in that please. So I'd start my seeds in a coco medium than? I was gonna just use the pellets.
Just buy the bricks at a pet store. Flush them with water for like 5 min.

If you have to end up hooking up a heater because it's winter, I wouldn't bother with any LEDs for now, except for the seedling stage maybe.. Might as well use HID that you already have.

You could duct that cooltube so it's on its own closed loop, and also have another passive exhaust fan for the tent itself. Maybe even get another one too, and rock both fixtures for 1200watts. People been killing it with 1000's of watts in small tents for decades now. I know I know, LED this LED that..

Buy some cheap brand new 600 bulbs (the most efficient HID bulbs anyway for HPS/MH), because they do lose output after a grow or 2, and its cheap to just replace them often..

Never really grown auto's, so not sure why I wouldn't treat them any different IMO.

Only thing I have against HID is the electric bill. That’s the only reason I went to LED.

With HID, you only need a heater running half the time at least, unless your flip flopping which is even better. Around here in the winter anyway. A couple cooltubes could warm the whole house, and heaters don't really grow weed IMO.

I don't grow in the house though, but even if I did, the propane bill would just end up being cheaper, probably making up for the higher energy bill anyway. There's always some bill, and someone trying to get ya, lol. LED only makes sense to me if you live in a hot climate, or in the dead of summer. For me that is..

Yeah I did the math on my HID bulbs and the whole grow from start to finish will be about $125.... pretty expensive compared to LED. I haven't grown forver and I'm just going to do this "sample grow" to see if I can spark that passion again. I may switch to LED after this grow. The grow tent is in my basement which is cool so the HID is good for the cool environment.
