Hidden room

How did you get that sliding door light tight? I like the idea, and probably will go that route.

on the inside of of the room I made a 30 inch door framed my framing up to that size ,,so the door shuts air tight on the inside,,, the sliding door is just to hide the entrance,,,,,to hide it I took 2x2's and cut 3/4 inch in from two sides so the piece was then a L shape like corner molding,,,,, would be and framed around the sliding door that way it sits tight to the wall,,,,The door on the inside I made a seal with weather striping like you would a house door and it has a dead bolt,,that holds it tight you will have to work on this seal a bit until you see no light coming in around it then the smell won't come sneaking out

If you're working with such little power, why do you let them get so tall?

There not that tall around 24 inches each ,,just took them out of red beer cups 2 weeks back,,and put them in to one gallon containers for now,,There are not tall and stringy at all have stalks as thick as a black sharpy ,,they are doing well,,,Some people go crazy with lights,,it is not the quantity it is the quality,,some folks do night like florescent lights,,all plants love and thrive that type of light,,I use full spectrum bulbs as close to natural light as you can get,,in that type of light,,,My partner is pushing 2300 watts ,,he just sent 5 plants and all his clones here to me,,will give you a side buy side view of his and mine same age ,,his have been here 5 days and are just now taking off,,,He is quite frustrated as he spent ,,some bucks on his lights and is proud of them but not getting my results,,I mix my own soil and researched my lighting well ,,I can shut my hot lights off and let them go slower in veg if I wish,,,But I am old school am growing sour D and road Kill and a hybrid of the two,,either way the sour D ,,,grows to 6 foot when is mature,,,So I will not flower these until 4 foot,,,My partner rushes wants to throw all in flower I,,Let my plants grow and become healthy strong plants ,,and I use the math matic formula,,Indoor you do not go buy days,,You go buy what stairn sativa or indca and that will tell you when to flower and how big to grow them,,Lights are important but the right lighting is more important then the wattage,,,,,,,,The black pot is my partners plant you can see the rapid new growth in just few days of being here,,he is pushing 2300 watts compared to my 731,,,he uses mostly LED but he has 2 150 HPS lights as well I have 1,,my partner stays tore up over the difference between his and mine,,,,You can see the 3 foot mark on back wall ,,I took the measurement from the top of my soil so I know when my plants are getting ready to flower ,, Dynamite comes in a small package but packs a punch

Per your original question, a stealth covering for the door could be a bunch of electronics that were emptied from their cases and placed on a bookcase or entertainment center. Other thoughts are a large art picture frame or as it seems to be off a garage, a lightweight storage cabinet possibly on wheels.

When we move in a few years I'll hopefully have the opportunity to build a custom home, where I'll have a hidden room set up.

I mean ,,if you are growing not rushing,,you will go buy the strain of the plant,,, it's size will tell you when your plant is ready,,,, Biggest mistake I see is people tend to rush,,give it time let the plant become the strong mean plant it can be,,,,,,here is the math side,,works everytime,,,days can vary largly on the grow site strain and conditions,,the math won't change
Indica Strains
Most pure indica strains slow their vertical growth very quickly once switched to a 12/12 light cycle. It’s not uncommon for an indica strain to add only 25% to 50% to its total height after switching to a 12 hour light cycle. Most of this additional growth will take place in the first week or two of flowering. If an indica plant is switched to flowering when it is 12 inches tall it can be expected to finish flowering at about 18 inches, give or take. That math is pretty consistent, so a 2 foot tall indica will likely finish flowering around 3 feet tall.

Here is the equation for indica strains. The vegged plant height (V) multiplied by 1.5 equals the plant height at harvest (H) or 1.5V = H

Sativa Strains
Pure sativa strains are much more difficult to grow indoors and are becoming increasingly rare in general. I don’t recommend them for novice indoor growers for several reasons. What is important for this topic is that their growth after being switched to a 12/12 light cycle is unpredictable. Pure sativas often continue to produce significant vertical vegetative growth many weeks into the flowering cycle. Sativas often double in size while flowering, and in some cases, will finish at three times the height they were at when the light cycle was switched. A 12 inch plant switched to the 12/12 light cycle could end up as tall as 36 inches, sometimes even taller. This additional vertical growth can quickly become a problem in a normal grow room. I’ve seen growers flower sativas at 2 feet tall only to end up with 6 foot plants at harvest. Most grow rooms just can’t accommodate plants this tall, not to mention some other real problems with tall marijuana plants.

Here is the equation for sativa strains. The vegged plant height (V) multiplied by 2.5 equals the plant height at harvest (H) or 2.5V = H.

Hybrid Strains
Hybrid cannabis strains are crossbreeds of various sativa and indica plants that have been bred selectively to promote specific characteristics. Some hybrids strains grow similar to sativas, other grow more like indicas. Most of the strains sold by seed and clone vendors are some form of hybrid. Find out as much about the strain as possible so you can guess how much vertical growth to expect after the flowering cycle beings. As a general rule, leave enough room for the plants to double in size. Once you are familiar with the strain you can let them grow a bit taller if there is room. Don’t forget, at a certain point, taller is not better.

Here is the equation for hybrid strains. The vegged plant height (V) multiplied by 2 equals the plant height at harvest (H) or 2V = H.

So if you go buy what you are growing there will be a perfect time to flower that type of plant or particular strain,,,Now Grow room size can dictate,,, how big you grow it,,,, but size not days will still let you know when to make the change so they can flower and still fit in there space,,,many people say it is this many days but if you are growing to reach the potential of the plant,,It will be size and overall health that tell you when,,,,This will not be what you do for a SOG style grow or some other grows ,,the Mathematical formula will always work,,,as some plants grow faster or may develope quicker just like people so time is what I give I want my plants to be potent and healthy,,,the size of the plant will mean the difference between grams,, OZ or Pnds

If it wasn't for the specific hood I am using, I wouldn't even care about how high my plants get. But I need to keep my tops about 3 feet from the bottom of my hood, which itself is about 1.5 feet tall. I could go to lowes and get some additional hardware and gain about 1 foot, but atm My hood is as high as I can safety get her.

Part of me wishes I would have just gotten an ordinary hood. On the other hand, I don't think I would have been able to achieve the same footprint off of an ordinary hood.

I start 12/12 tonight or tomorrow night. I can't wait to share some pictures of her. LST'ing has exceeded ALL of my expectations. Shes got at least 4 main tops, but tbh, I think all but 2 or 3 are going to be big ass colas.

I picked up a small bottle of big bloom and fed her 2 days ago. She responded overnight. Loved it.

I can lend a hand there perhaps will show you a room a built while back can't say where but you will like,,hope it helps,,and you will see the door is on 22 inch heavy duty drawer slide ball bearing sliders,,I have more pics I am a tinkerman
i'm gonna steal that sliding OSB idea and build shelves or a bookcase and attach to the sliding door

where did you get the hardware?

i've already got a hidden room, with a hidden door up and running. need a little more trim work on the outside to disguise the door a bit more. it has an electro magnetic lock on it.

now i want to put a sliding bookcase doorway in ahead of the door on the hidden room. so basically i will have a closet sized room (hidden by bookcase) that enters a larger 8x8 grow room. the closet sized room behind the bookcase will hold seedlings, clones and veg area.

i can distract from the sliding OSB with the book case/shelving. i can also attach an electro magnetic lock on the sliding door.

i might have time to start working on this soon. just need to frame a 4x8 wall with my hidden door and go from there.
