Can I ask (hopefully without getting flamed as I have been trying to search for a while now) when germinating seeds is distilled water okay for the peat pucks? I used to live in the city where the rap water was good. Now I'm on well water and the mineral content is crazy. I do run it through a carbon filter, a water softener and a uv light. It's good for drinking but I can't use it for watering my plants. I almost killed a few plants before I realized what was going on. My own fault I should have known better. I use only bottled distilled water now. The thing is, since I moved, I can't seem to get any seeds to come up and I don't know why. I"ve tried the paper towel method. They crack and then that's it. I've gone right into soil and got a tap root and that is it. It's driving me crazy. I'm using Pro mix. so maybe there is not enough nutes to get them to take I don't know. I put a few into peat pots and nothing. The money I've spent on seeds is crazy!!! The seed bank I get from felt bad for me when I went to get more and gave me an extra pack for free as a nice gesture (I love those guys). Should I try using the promix and adding superthrive to wet it down? My local hydroponics shop told me it helps a lot. I keep my room at a constant 79 degrees. Should I get a heating mat and try that? I'm going crazy. I hate this after growing for a few years now I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. This is a new house and I'm figuring that I have a lot to learn with my new room. Any help is appreciated and all you flamers that want to scream at me for not searching, I've been searching so screw you guys.

Thanks to all those who care enough to help their fellow grower.

Ludacris, I never claimed to be an all knowing god of pot growing. I am new to growing indoors and I have a lot to learn. As far as the post asking about grow equipment, I had done minimal amounts of research and was looking for second opinions to confirm what I had already read in other places. I do believe if you compare that post to his most would find that it seems as if I had put much more into trying to find what I was looking for before asking for anothers opinion. In the end I just converted a closet, made my own soil and now the plants are doing fine after a few minor setbacks. I also didn't come to roll it up with the intent of making friends, I came mainly to read and thats what I've done. I never said you had spelling mistakes{where is my spelling mistakes} theres a gramatically mistake though, I was refering to the original post when I mentioned typing in a coherent manner, that "sentence" was a mess. Not to say that mine are perfect because they are not and I know that. They are though, coherent and able to be read and understood I would think by any who speak the English language proficiently. I'm pissed off in no way shape or form. I have a tendency to laugh at things like this. As far as my input with regards to his question, by my second post when I was actually able to understand what it was he had typed I gave him an honest answer. I had never planted seeds directly into the ground before without germinating them first. Therefore I had no first hand knowledge to the information which he was seeking and as such decided it best to not give a specific answer other than to say it will vary from seed to seed as it does and to be patient. I do believe you are blowing what I said very far out proportion though I suppose it comes with the territory, the internet is famous for such things. However this will be my last post here as to avoid keeping this going and going as it likely will, he got an answer. The end, thread should be done.

Yes you can estimate the time it will take for a seed to sprout however, that information would be readily available through a quick google search. I'm not to keen on helping those who don't first put some time into looking for the answers to their own questions which he may or may have not done. But also, if you're looking for help it does pay to use proper english and type/write your sentences in a coherent manner{Twas actually the main reason I didn't offer an estimate}. I understand that he has a much more legitimate question than someone asking for an estimate of how much bud their going to get or whatever but as I said before, that info could be found very quickly through a google search or just putting the seeds in the dirt as their meant to be done and watering them...Then waiting and seeing for oneself how long it takes for them to sprout. I wasn't attempting to "flame" him in any way simply saying that how long they take to sprout is going to vary some and truthfully the best way for him to learn these things would be trial and error...I think anyone would learn more and be more likely to not repeat the same mistakes again if they are allowed to fail at something or do the research, get the answer they were looking for and trying it{Successfully or unsuccessfully} rather than expecting to get certain results just because someone else did. This is actually a perfect example...You told him 3-4 days, on the fifth when he has yet to see any sign of life from them what does he do? Come running back, as I said before there is going to be variability and it would have been best for him not to go into the process of germinating believing he would see plants popping out of the dirt by day 4...It would have been best in my opinion for him to just plant them, water them and wait without any predispositions as to how fast the process was going to take and then perhaps in the future compare his results this time to a future attempt and taking notes on what if anything he did different and what if anything changed with regards to the plants because of this...
The putting it in the "ground" Which I hope you mean soil, watering it and maintaining a humid moist inviorment would be like putting it in a damp paper towl that had the nutes. of soil. If you get a seed and do this and it dosen't sprout for in a few days you ethier have an old ass shit seed or a damaged seed. You can't take a shitty seed thats cracked and spotted and expect it to grow into a monster plant let alone grow at all. I do this on every plant and ALL the seeds come up in 2 to 3 days for exp. We dont try "to "flame" him " In my suggestion if you get a seed that dosen't come up that way it probley wasen't healthy. The plants seem to do this fine by alone with out paper towls. If it takes a week+ for it come up it would grow slow as shit. You don't come on here to complain if you don't have an answer for the qestion don't post. As for Luda in my opinon and from what I've seen, is a well experinced grower as from what I've seem from you isin't impressive. Trail and error is fine if you wanna waste your time, everyone learns diffrently but some people dont have time for all of that, go Luda.
