Chapter 6 : Bodhi Genetics. No Til organics. Mixed lighting including quantum boards.
Genetics: Lemon Hashplant, Sunshine Daydream and Guava Wookie

Day 87 from seed
Day 71 since 12/12

This will be final post before we get to post-harvest pictures.
I've decided we've gone far enough and they will be getting chopped tomorrow evening, day 72.
I moved them into an 8'x4' tent which is where they will spend their last night and also hang dry once chopped.

It's been a great ride and super excited to experience Bodhi genetics for the 1st time.

Chapter 7 Update:

The girls from Chapter 6 just got moved out of the main room and into a tent. Time to get the room cleaned and setup. This is a very ambitious go around :)
It's been challenging so far but I think things are starting to look up. A few of them appear to be damping off...I'm not sure. It's never happened to me before.

Once I get them looking healthy and stable I'll report back.

I've started to manicure everything. I have 14 jars (1 for each plant) so it's going to take a while to make them pretty.

Here are the 4 Guava Wookies...

Guava Wookie #2

Guava Wookie #3

Guava Wookie #4

Guava Wookie #5

All 4 samples were incredibly easy to trim...I'm not finished but what you see took very little effort. They all have an above average amount of hairs. Resin production is probably below average but sample #2 is pretty good in that regard. Sample #3 started to purple up near the end of flowering and you can see it a bit here. They all seem to have a similar smell...definitely not identical, but similar. A bit of fruit but I cannot put my finger on it. I don't actually know what a Guava smells like so I can't say. 3 of the 4 are kind of a musky fruit and the 4th is more of a floral and fruit. But I really think they need at least 7 to 10 more days in the jar before their true smell will start to come out. I have not sampled yet and won't until at least 2 weeks in the jar.

4 down, 10 more to go. The next 10 will be Sunshine Daydream and Lemon Hashplant.

Here are the 3 Lemon Hashplants...

All 3 of these are a nightmare to trim as you can probably see. Overall, the bag appeal leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe with a finished trim job it will look better. But where these samples do shine is in their smell. OMG - lemon heaven. All 3 of them have a very pungent lemon smell...much more pungent than the Wookies. Sample #2 is the standout. She smells absolutely amazing. If they taste even half as good as they smell, they will be delicious.

I sure hope so! This is my first time working with Bodhi gear. The trichomes seem to be a bit sub-par from what I'm used to. But...there is still time for them to do their magic!
Nice grow and diary!

Love the verdict from the Lemon hashplant testers. Will be sowing a pack of LHP in the near future for sure.

You say the trichomes are a bit sub-par compared with what you're used to...what sort of stuff are you used to ?

All I really meant was that they were not as frosty as they usually are. I've been going thru all kinds of different genetics over the last few years.
The big change this time was trying organic living soil for the 1st time so its entirely possible that is the reason. My first try with soil only went so-so...the plants were not very healthy overall.

Ahh I got it now. I must try and concentrate more when i'm medicated lol.

Happy growing

It's been a while since I posted to this journal. I stopped posting mostly because very few people were visiting and responding. It's important to note that my love for growing does not require any kind of validation from this community. That said, the way in which I document my efforts has certainly suffered as a result of this. So - regardless if I'm talking to myself, I am going to continue where I left off.

Chapter 6 came and went. It my was my 1st ever attempt at living soil and it went very poorly. It was also my 1st attempt working with Bodhi gear. The Lemon Hashplant samples reviewed very well despite looking sub-par. The Guava Wookie samples reviewed very poorly despite looking amazing. The Sunshine Daydream samples were a mixed bag. They certainly did not look fantastic but reviewed decently. I take full responsibility for the sub-par reviews and, as I said, it was my 1st attempt at living soil and it went very poorly.

Chapter 7 was a larger Bodhi experiment but again, it was also a living soil experiment. I realized in Chapter 6 that the 0.9 gallon containers I chose were way too small. I ended up going with 7 gallon containers and I made some adjustments to the soil recipe. Things went much better but far from perfect. I still had a lot of problems but not as severe as the previous attempt.

I ended up with the following plants:
(1) Cobra Lips
(3) Super Silver Hashplant
(3) Forest Queen
(2) Hashplant 4 (Chem 4 x G13)
(2) Hashplant D (Chem D x G13)
(1) Soul Food

Midway thru flowering, the cobra lips starting throwing nanners and by the time I caught it, it was too late.
Was it a hermaphrodite?
Did it throw boy parts due to stresses? I had altered the light schedule from 24/0 to 12/12, back to 24/0 and then back to 12/12 due to problems with some of the other plants. But it was not for an extended period of time.

All of these plants finished flowering. Samples were sent out and seeds were collected. None of the flowers were, what I would consider, ruined with seeds. Some had more than others but all in all, the amount of seeds was fairly low.

All of those sample were shipped out in late December and I decided to run the last round of Bodhi genetics that I had. I planted the following offerings - mostly 5 seeds or more of each:
- Herer Hashplant
- Lemon Lotus
- Lemon Hashplant (I had already done a round of these and they were great)
- Strawberry Goji

I also had a couple of non-Bodhi things that I wanted to experience:
- Sensi Seeds #11 - They had recently released some experimental crosses that looked interesting.
- Humboldt Chem
- Humboldt Green Crack (I hate this name)

These were kind of fillers but also I just wanted to see how they looked.

At the very last minute I also planted a bunch of the Cobra Lips crossed that I had just made (accidentally).
Many of the seeds did not germinate - I think they were too fresh.
But some of them did.
My original objective with these seeds was:
A) Are they actually feminized?
B) If so, are they going to be hermaphrodites?

Well...14 sprouted and 14 were female. Yes, they are feminized.
Were at 53 days of 12/12 and not a single one has shown any signs.

This pretty much gets us up to date and I will resume posting here regularly.

Really been interested in that strawberry goji. Ive been really considering bodhi stuff but im not sure if i want to deal with a pheno hunt adventure a lot of ppl talk about.
Will follow along as long as the site keeps giving notifications. I hate thatll it just randomly stop sometimes.

I have 13 pics to share tonight. And I will do my best to showcase all of the plants, one by one, until they are finished.
I have a total of 34 plants and it's looking like 2 might be finishing in the next 10 days or so but the vast majority is going to need 70-80 days....which is fine. I'm not on a schedule this time so however long they need is fine.

(12) Quantum Boards up top. Each running at 100 Watts.
The middle row is the new 3500K boards with the reds added.
The outer 2 rows are 4000K's

Tonight I added 2 more boards to aim at the sides of the two Lemon Lotus plants. I'll speak more about these 2 plants soon - but they are monsters and needed a bit more light.

Definitely following to watch someone with a very similar light setup. Plants are all looking delicious.
LOVE the idea of the wall lighting, Ive been tossing around the idea off making a couple light columns with strips to hang between my two rows.

I've been mainly a lover of vertical lighting strategies but I have never tried these boards overhead.

This is what I did when I got them originally :)

You are honestly one of the few people that i follow here, I enjoy reading your posts and seeing your grows. I think its awesome how your setup has evolved and you grow some nice looking buds. Did you use living soil this round? They are looking nice and chunky. I also have been debating and practicing with organics, last time around turned out nice but and i still feel like i can get better yields with synthetics.
