you mean the roots or the plant itself? The plant dosent need to be kept cool, however the roots do. if you are growing in a pot use a big one, to hold lots of medium, and mulch heavy on the top. keep it watered well, if its really hot out you may need to water every day. or, you could get as much mulch as you can and pile it around the pot to keep it cool.

About the only thing you can do to keep an outside plant cool in hot weather is an air conditioned green house...

If this was right next to your house, I'd say get a cheapo homedepot pastic greenhouse and duct some AC from your house...

But I don't know anyone that would do that...

are you moving it around alot? Are you moving it from a shaded area or from in your house to full sun? That will cause it to droop a little, it needs to get climatized to the harsh rays of the sun.
A little drooping is alright if you have just moved it, but really you should have it in a permanent place or you had better be commited to moving it out into the sun first thing in the morning. That will help it build up a thicker cuticle.

If the root ball is getting heated up too then that could be causing the drooping as well.

how big is your pot? how old is the plant?

dig a hole and put the pot in the hole then put dirt back around the pot. that will help keep the roots cool so the plant can take a higher temp. then if you do need to move it just pull the pot out of the ground.

I live in a very hot state and my plant is in a 4 gallon clay pot. I have a schedule of moving it so that it gets as much direct sunlight as possible. I have been spraying the plant down with water every couple of hours. I have also put stones on top of the soil to protect in from the harsh rays of the sun and i water it every day with about a gallon of water.

Transplant it to a bigger pot, and add 6 inches of mulch to the top. this should keep the root ball cool.
