How Crucial is it to change water every week...

If you are looking at it that way then you would be running a perpetual grow and losses would add up to even more. I would pull 16-20oz instead of 32+ if i didnt veg.

I do think super has a point! Since I have started to do 12 from seed my yields have been quite a bit less. I have to rearrange my shed to get a bigger flower area. Its 4x4 now and if I veg, the plants take over the whole room and get too tall (no room left to scrog). but it also seems to depend on the strain as well I think, I am growing out some White Russian again 12 from seed and its gonna be real close to the first grow I did that was vegged for I believe 21 days, just not as tall.

maybe so guys. i can see big losses occuring goin 12/12 from seed but a clone is a mature plant technically. the best way to do it then would be one or two weeks of veg for the clones in a small tent then flip em in the main room. i cant see that there would be any major loss there but i will just have to see for myself one time and weigh up the loss of six crops compared to four a year.

so why do ppl grow perpetualy then? ppl wouldnt do it if it lost you masses!

I have a perpetual grow and i put 12-14 plants into flower every three weeks. And yes, if you dont veg you will have much less yield. Think about it. You have a plant that is 12" tall and you put it straight to flower vs a plant that got 21-30 days veg and is 24-30" tall and then flowered. People do it mostly for room size.

i may b lucky,but i never change.i just keep adding water..they eat it up so fast it basically changes itself

strain dependent as well though. what im growing right now can be flipped at 2 weeks and still pull two a plant! i will be hunting for a good strong mother after this grow and start cloning. that means four plants of the best pedigree vegged for about two weeks in another tent ready to go as soon as the others are finished. this will not equate to less yeild mate!!!

Yes I'm sure there are strains out there that do real well at 12 from seed and then there are some that don't lol. The White Russian I am doing now is probably not going to be half of what it was when Vegged my first time. I'm sure that 2 weeks of veg would make a big difference in my case. But I am new at this so it could very well be me that caused the lesser yield as well. It did get awfully big though when I vegged it lol. And as far as the res change, I'm not sure if its needed or not, I have never let it go for more than 10 days at the most and usually do it every 7 days. I have heard of people letting res go for the whole grow and just topping up.

in terms of res changes i think its down to a case of how your nutes, water and strain get along together. if you can keep your ph and ec levels rock steady then there's probably no need for changes. something i thought today that has to be taken in to account is that if you are are topping off with water that has a high mineral content it will throw your res mixture completly out of balance. but still i dont use ro water or anything and my babies do fine with the top ups of hard water. i think the differences we are talking about here are optimal and ok conditions. it all depends on how much messing about/money you want to sink into creating a perfect enviroment.

Not an excessive amount of both lol. But I do try to keep them happy!!
I also use well water that is pretty hard so it helps to keep things stable, I think, to change weekly.
