How long until Ill need a carbon filter?

I have 5 Mendocino madness girls about 3 weeks old under 600w mh. My girls are in a 6.5x6.5x6.5 tent indoors with plenty of ventilation. I plan on letting these girls get 2-3 foot before flowering.

My main question...

How long till Ill really NEED a carbon scrubber?

Can I wait until they are a couple weeks into flowering to get a filter?

Any info greatly appreciated

When you can smell it out of your grow room

Im not really worried about a little smell coming out of the tent. Im more worried about a distinct odor. Im just trying to figure out about how long into the plants life or at what growth phase they really start to smell enough that Ill need a filter. Im buying more and more things for my grow as I go along and get money. Im just trying to sort out whats more immediately escential...

Depends on the plant. Some start stinking early in veg, and others never stink, even in full flower.

I'm not using one right now, but after 3 weeks in flowering it's really strong smell now, in my hall way.

When veg, I could only smell it in my room
