How many people have failed on there first grow or 2?

Just curious to see if whats the ratio of getting a plant on ur first grow id like to hear some stories of the failures and how u learned form ur mistakes. i think it makes for a great and helpful thread

I had mad problems but I always managed to fix what I fucked up and hell yeah you have to learn from your mistakes or your only gonna fuck it up again next time around... pay attention as if they were your children!!

i like it i like it good stuff

dont dig them out of the soil every day to make sure they are still growing lol (im surprized only one died after that)

How many people have failed on there first grow or 2?

More than will ever admit it - trust me!

The 4 biggest causes of failure (in no particular order) are:
Over watering.
Over feeding.
Under budgeting (Going Cheap).
Not having a "Friggin'" clue!

First time, PH issues, and not enough phosphorus. Second time, the dreaded spider mite. Still got some herb, but not as much or of the quality i wanted.

im about a month from harvest and i have a plant

its scroony, alck of leaves, streching, ill be lucky if i get a quarter off of it, but hey its my first grow ever n i had no knoledge

My first attempt at a grow was a few years back, found a seed in something I had at that time, germinated them, I think there was 2. I put them in a pot and set it ontop of my refrigerator. The lights in the kitchen were what I was going to use to get the initial plant growing.
After about 2 weeks they were still very small plants, when I was pulling the pot down to look at them it slipped out of my hand fell upside down ontop of the stove and the side of the pot squished one seedling right in half instantly. The other was buried in soil and never recovered.

Then I tried again maybe 3 years ago or so. I spent a little money on some flourescent lights at costco that you could connect to eachother they were about a foot and a half long each. It was a closet grow attempt. It went really really well for awhile. The plants were about 2 feet tall kinda spindly, maybe they were sativas, not sure. Then the lights slowly started just burning out. One at a time. Started with I think 8 flourescent lights and they just burned out and I couldnt afford to replace them. So in the end the plants didnt really produce anything... at least not anything memorable.

Then last year-ish I threw some seeds in the backyard late in the season between some tomatoes and had a nice big pot filled with plants for a sea of green type outdoor thing. It musta been too late in the season the ones in the ground didnt get too big, and the ones in the pot did really really really well.... until some jackass who shall remain nameless but an ass nonetheless poured lighter fluid all over them......

So outta I'd say 30-50 seeds I ended up with 3 plants that gave like 5 bowls of smoke total, together.



God damn I want to grow a plant and not smoke it all in one sitting!!!! I think the pot goddesses are on my side this time though!!! *crosses fingers* I hope.....

Do you know what was going through that fellows mind when he decided to but lighter fluid on em?

I'm not sure if i would call my first a failure or a temporary layoff, but long story short I didn't get to flower them. If ya want the details holla here is some pics of the first and my current.

He was a psychopath who wanted to hurt me obviously. yeah I know who it was and why.... but they haven't shown their face since so I'm still pissed about it, but yeah.... I was so excited about that setup before that happened.
I found out by waking up and going outside to see the whole pot plants and all tossed in a big black trash can with the lid on top crushing the babies... found out a couple days later it was put in there because someone witnessed him put the fluid on them.... It woulda been nice to have been told so I coulda attempted a flush and save,... but they were too far gone when I found them (more concerned about my child then my plants at the point shit went down)

and here's some of my current that i just started this was like three days ago they're a lot bigger now, as you can see i upgraded and made a ghetto reflector that i'm positive will work just fine.

do you guys think this is a complete fail or a partial fail or not a fail at all due to the amout of experience gained from it.

My first grow:10 plants, ended up with 9 due to a herm.

On my second grow now. Either 5 or 6 weeks into flowering come Monday. Had to get rid of one due to it being a male.

Also, I took cuttings for the first time and all except 1 made it.

So, so far so good.

What's my number 1 tip I hear you ask? Research. Be fanatical about it.

Don't be fanatical be obsessed some would say this is a bad thing, but trust me it's not the more ocd you get about your plants then the more you will learn and the better your grows will get. garunteed there is so much to lean on this site and there is many other sites you can use to lyour advantage.

Be fanatical about research and being obsessed about research is the same thing.

my first two grows shit when down bad lol one got to paranoid on mushrooms and ate it the next couple the DEA showed up to tell me about my charges lol so yet again i ate them lol last time i did it i had a box but only had a 250watt mh and no hps so i got loose airy buds that didnt have weight to them(turned out hella headies but not many) this time im doing another with my 250 and they all got cold and hot cold and hot so they turned out hermies. but the next set up i got a 400watt digital ballast, a sentinel CHHC-1, a 20lbs aluminum CO2 tank with electric regulator, a full advance nutrients package, and a full hydro set up....the next ones will be bomb....plus hopefully huge....gotta get my smoke ready for when i get out of this shit im in lol

growing a plant is really easy but a lot of times first grows fail. mine wasn't great but it saw finish.

Ok I confess. First time try was several decades ago. I took an egg carton and filled each little hole up with dirt from the yard then put a seed of the debils weed in each hole aded water and set it on the top shelf of the closet under the hundred watt incadescent light buld. It just dried up the dirt. I didnt learn to grow till checking into this insane asylum a while back. You peeps is a bad influence. Thanks.

My first Grow was out of control. First I let the PH in my reservoir get way out of control. Then I grew them way to big for my set up. On top of that I wasn't giving them the all the nutes they needed so they started folding over from their own weight. 4 out of 5 grew balls and the only female I had was gimpy so I chopped her down to. She probably would have went herm due to the fact that I did not control the temps. I had wild swings from 85 when the lights are on during the day to 60 at night when the lights where off. But with all that said, I learned the importance of an intake and exhaust. I was forced to study about what nutes they need and how much of what to use when as well as what nutes are consumed at what PH levels. I would say that I learned a shit ton from my first grow.
